Use the Present Perfect Simple to express that an event
started in any specific time in the past, continues until
present and probably it will continue in the future.

FOR / SINCE
When we use the Present Perfect to talk about a situation
that started in the past and continues in the present, we
often use the question: How long….?

And for answer, we could use the time expression with for
or since.
for / since to talk about a period of time.
for / since to talk about when something started.
ALREADY / YET

• I have already got dressed. • I haven’t done my homework yet.

verbs of thinking and opinion such as: believe,

Emotional verbs:
love, hate, envy.
Example:
You should not say, “I’ve been knowing you for a long time.”

If you have a stative verb, use the present perfect simple:


“I have known you for a long time.”
