When the verb BE is the main verb...
… remember the INVERSION !

I’m Melanie, a teacher. Are you a teacher too ? Who are

I’m in the classroom. Where are you ?
I’m 18. How old are you ?

I was at the cinema last night. Where were you ?


When BE is an auxiliary… it’s the same !

Present Continuous :
I’m having a cup of tea. Are you having a cup of tea too ?
What are you having ?
Be going to (future plans and predictions) :
The students are going to work hard this semester !
Is the teacher going to work hard too ?
What is she going to do ?
The modal verb CAN needs the inversion
too :
Melanie can speak English but she can’t drive a car.
→ Can you drive a car ?
→ Yes, we can. / No, we can’t.
