Factorial Concept
• The factorial, symbolized by an exclamation mark (!), is a quantity defined
for all integers greater than or equal to 0.
• For an integer n greater than or equal to 1, the factorial is the product of all
integers less than or equal to n but greater than or equal to 1.
• The factorial value of 0 is defined as equal to 1.
• The factorial values for negative integers are not defined.
• the factorial of any number is that number times the factorial of (that number
minus 1)
• For example:
• 10! = 10 × 9!, ... and 125! = 125 × 124!, etc.

Factorial Concept
• Mathematically, the formula for the factorial is as follows.
If n is an integer greater than or equal to 1, then
n ! = n ( n - 1)( n - 2)( n - 3) ... (3)(2)(1)
• Evaluate 6!.
1×2×3×4×5×6 = 720
We can also simplify the factorial as
5! = 5 X 4 X 3 X 2 X 1
= 5 X 4! Or 5 X 4 X 3! Or 5 X 4 X 3!

The properties related to factorial function are as follows:
(𝐧+𝟏)!
• Factorial may also be expressed as : n! =
𝐧+𝟏
• Factorial of zero: 0! = 1.

Application of factorial:
The most common application in the arrangement
For example: we have 5 persons and we want to arrange them in 5
different positions ☺☺☺☺☺ — — — — —

Interesting Facts:
Six weeks is exactly 10! seconds (=3,628,800)
Seconds in 6 weeks: 60 × 60 × 24 × 7 × 6
(2 × 3 × 10) × (3 × 4 ×
Factor some numbers:
5) × (8 × 3) × 7 × 6
2×3×4×5×6×7×8
Rearrange:
× 3 × 3 × 10
2×3×4×5×6×7×8
Lastly 3×3=9:
× 9 × 10
