PERSONAL STATEMENT

Ever since I could remember I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education. As
I was growing up I could see children of my age in Pakistan struggling to go to school because of
their circumstances. It’s always been my goal in life to become an early year’s teacher and see
children achieve their ambitions. Helping them to achieve what they want in life is a big
ambition of mine. During my bachelor degree in education gave me the opportunity to be one
week at school and the other week at placement and these include primary schools, special needs
schools and nurseries. I really enjoy my work placements because they have helped me to extend
my theoretical and practical knowledge of children. My role in placements is to help children,
who are struggling and less able, provide age appropriate activities, singing with them, listening
to them read and also reading to them. I was most certain that I wanted to do this course after
having my work placement in Pre Primary School. It was the most fascinating and interesting
experience, I totally enjoyed working with children. I just loved the thought of waking up and
knowing today am going to see them learn, help them learn and see them achieve and solve
problems. This made me realize to enroll in this programme.

As I have already mentioned, I completed my graduation in education from Hamdard University.

After that I went to pre-primary school for internship. I gained so much knowledge in health and
social care and thoroughly enjoyed learning about the development of young children. For this
subject, we had a placement in a nursery which provided me with an excellent opportunity to
learn about the behavior of children. I became responsible and developed good communication
skills with staff, preparing me for a real career. I had a real sense of happiness and satisfaction
when the children listened, responded, and looked up to me.

I have recently been offered and enthusiastically accepted a job at Agha khan school as a
preschool Assistant after completing my two years in masters. My responsibilities will include
supervising children at playtime, engaging with the children in` learning and play activities as
well as working with the other nursery staff and attending staff meetings. This job will allow me
to build skills such as childcare, proactivity, and time management which will help me build a
strong foundation for early years teaching. I am excited to start this job as it is the first step I am
taking to pursue a lifetime career in early education. Studying at university will be a perfect
opportunity for me to further my understanding of children in early years and allow me to learn
about new areas I haven’t come across yet. My goal is to gain practical experience working with
children while also gaining relevant qualifications to be the best teacher I can be.

I believe my achievements show I am a hardworking, dedicated individual, who can commit to

this course. I look forward to new experiences and gaining further knowledge in the development
of children. I enjoy a challenge and would love the opportunity to have my own classroom to
make learning creative, exciting and above all, fun. I consider myself as a hardworking and self-
motivated individual who enjoys facing challenges and finding a professional way to deal with
them. I enjoy listening to children and members of staff and take their thoughts into
consideration. Listening to other members of staff and getting feedback helps me to learn
because I will know what areas I need to improve. I feel that my good communication skills are
very essential when working as a team especially when children are involved. I am confident that
being able to complete this course will enable me to pursue the career. This degree will allow me
to gain the skills and experience I need to work with children. I look forward to going to
university because this will allow me to pursue the career in life that I think I will find the most
fulfilling. It is hugely important to enjoy what you do as working is such a big part of your life.
