Control Communications
Control Communications
Control Communications is the process of monitoring and con-
trolling communications throughout the entire project lifecycle
to ensure the information needs of project stakeholders are met.
Essentially the Control Communications process seeks to ensure
that the right people are getting the correct information in a timely
manner. If they aren’t, the change process is initiated through this
process.
Figure 25-1 shows the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs
for the Control Communications process. Figure 25-2 shows a data
flow diagram for the Control Communications process.

OUTPUTS
Work performance information contains contextualized information
about how well the project is performing. If performance is not as
expected a change request may be submitted to align the communi-
cations processes with the needs of the project.
The project management plan components that may get updated
as part of this process include the communications management
plan, the stakeholder management plan and the human resource
management plan.
Issue logs, performance reports, and forecasts are project docu-
ments that may be updated. If aspects of the communication process
are not working, templates, procedures, and reporting formats are
organizational process assets that can be updated.
