emphasizing and conceding a point, adding and clarifying ideas, concluding, classifying, and showing
cause and effect.

Develop coherent texts through transitional devices

Use correct signal devices in various communicative tasks

Development

Paragraph and sentences may be linked together in various ways using certain words or phrases. We call
these words transitional devices, which create free-flowing transition from one idea to another. The
following transitional devices may be used:

Showing location (spatial)
