Directions: Study the map below and answer the guide questions that follow.
Guide Question:
1. What are the different colors used to distinguish different areas in the map?
For Rain-Induced Landslide Prone Areas Yellow, Green, Red and for Flood-Prone Areas
Pink and Violet
2. What does each color mean regarding the susceptibility of an area for a specific hazard?
-For Rain-Induced Landslide Prone Areas Yellow means low susceptibility-less likely to
experience landslide, Green means moderately susceptible, Red means highly susceptible
and for Flood-Prone Areas Pink means Low to moderately susceptible, Violet means highly
susceptible
3. For each hazard and level of susceptibility, what actions should someone in a particular
area take during periods of very heavy rain?
-For Rain-Induced Landslide Prone Areas Yellow means Be prepared, Green means be
cautious, Red means be alert and ready to evacuate. For Flood-Prone Areas Pink means be
cautious, Violet means be alert and ready to evacuate

1. What can you conclude regarding the topography of such areas?
- These are mountainous places with steep slopes and little vegetation cover
2. Based on the maps, what is the value of susceptibility to landslides and floods? Is it
highly susceptible, moderately susceptible or low susceptible?
- Based on the maps ,It is Highly susceptible.
Guide Questions:
1. Identify the high risk municipalities for Rain-Induced Landslide within the Province of
Catanduanes. (Please copy the table template in your notebook/portfolio. Write your
answer in this table).
RAIN-INDUCED LANDSLIDE HAZARD SUSCEPTIBILITY FOR THE
PROVINCE OF CATANDUANES
Does your barangay susceptible to rain-induced landslide and flood hazards? If yes,
what is its level of susceptibility?
-No.
I have learned that geological hazard map helps the public be informed and prepared for the
geological hazard and I have also learned how to become aware of and understand the risks
of rain-induced landslides and floods .
I wish to clarify to my teacher about What should someone in an area with high level of
susceptibility do during periods of heavy rain?
