Scheduling is the art of planning your activities so that you can achieve your
goals and priorities in the time you have available. When it's done effectively, it
helps you:
- Understand what you can realistically achieve with your time.
- Make sure you have enough time for essential tasks.
- Add contingency time for "the unexpected."
- Avoid taking on more than you can handle.
- Work steadily toward your personal and career goals.
- Have enough time for family and friends, exercise and hobbies.
- Achieve a good work-life balance.
Scheduling helps you think about what you want to achieve in a day, week or
month and it keeps you on track to accomplish your goals.
1) On the 1st page ask them to fill the squares (based on the time they
spend) and label them with routine activities of their regular day like
sleeping (6 hours = 6 squares), bathing, eating, travel, TV time etc.
2) On the 2nd page and this time, ask them to fill the squares based
on the time they spend on non-productive time in their college like tea-
breaks, water cooler chats, travel, social-media and emails etc.
3) In the end, on the 3rd page ask them to collate the data from “Page1” and
“Page 2” and these empty squares represent their productive time. Using
the 3rd page mentee has to identify the activities from which they can
Mine Time to increase their productive time.
Learning outcome : Identify time wasters and time spent on routine activities and
where to mine time.
