First of all, we would like to express our thanks to Almighty Allah who has given us sense,
health, support and knowledge to complete this project.

We would also like to thank our dearest teacher Sir Tariq Shah (Professor in Shaheed
Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology) for all the help and his
supportive behavior which did encouraged us to complete this whole project.

We would also like to express our gratitude to the many people who helped us through out,
provided support, talked thing over, read, wrote, offered comment, allowed us to quote their
remark and assisted in the editing, proofreading and design.

Thus, it is very delightful to say that every effort done by both the member of the group is

INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND

INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE


IMDb, In full Internet Movie Database web site that provides information about millions of
films and television programs as well as their cast and crew. The name is an acronym for
Internet Movie Database. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon.com, IMDb is based in
Seattle, but the office of Col Needham, the founder and CEO, remains in Bristol, England,
where the Web site was founded.

The IMDb site grew beyond its original purpose of indexing credits in film and TV
productions. An entry for a film may now cover studios and other companies associated with
the film, release dates in various countries, censor classifications, box-office grosses, awards
won, and other information. The entries for performers, directors, writers, and others
involved in film and TV productions are also comprehensive. Some entries include photos,
videos, and coming-attraction trailers.

It is an online database of information related to films, television programs, home videos,


video games, and streaming content online – including cast, production crew and personal
biographies, plot summaries, trivia, ratings, and fan and critical reviews. The movie and
talent pages of IMDb are accessible to all internet users, but a registration process is
necessary to contribute information to the site.
QUESTION: With your team of three or four students, select an online database to
explore, such as AOL Music, iGo.com, or the internet Movie Database. Explore one of
these websites to see what information it provides. Then list the entities and attributes
that company running the website must keep track of in its databases. Diagram the
relationship between the entities you have identified. If possible, use Google Docs and
Google Drive or Google Sites to brainstorm, organize, and develop a presentation of your
findings for the class.
We have chosen Internet Movie Database (IMDb): IMDb is an online database of
information related to films, television programs, home videos, video games, and streaming
content online – including cast, production crew and personal biographies, plot summaries,
trivia, ratings, and fan and critical reviews. The movie and talent pages of IMDb are
accessible to all internet users, but a registration process is necessary to contribute
information to the site.
