LIGHTING OF THE CLASS CANDLES

Adventurer District Director:

“Adventurers we are here for a very special occasion. Are you ready to be inducted into the
(name of club) Adventurer Club? We will commence with the Lighting of the Class Candles”.

(One child from each class comes forward and says their piece then lights their class candle from
the Spirit of Adventurers candle which is the Spirit of God.)

Little Lamb:
I am a Little Lamb. I learn Jesus is my Friend. Jesus wants me to be a gentle Little Lamb to
everyone I meet.

Early Bird:
I am an Early Bird. I am curious and move about very fast. I can follow simple instructions. Jesus
wants me to learn how to follow Him.

Busy Bee:
I am a Busy Bee who likes to get things done. Jesus wants me to keep busy as I learn all the sweet
things about Him.
Sunbeam:
I am a Sunbeam. I am bright and like to ask many questions about Jesus. By learning about Jesus,
I will become a Sunbeam that shines for Him each day.

Builder:
I am a Builder. I enjoy memorising bible verses and like to play in groups. Jesus wants me to be a
Builder for His kingdom.

Helping Hands:
I am a Helping Hand. With my hands, Jesus teaches me to help others.

2. PLEDGE

Adventurer District Director:

"Adventurers - you wish to be part of the (name of club) Adventurer Club.
Please recite your Pledge"

All Adventurers recite: Because Jesus loves me, I can always do my best.
3. LAW

Adventurer District Director:

"Adventurers please recite the Adventurer Law"

(Ten Adventurers say the Law on behalf of the new club – First child recites one item of the law then takes
a candle, lights it from the Spirit of Adventurer candle then places the lit candle on the stand, and so forth.
If the club is small, the Adventures may recite more than one item of the law)

1st Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be obedient - I will obey God’s laws and cheerfully do what my parents and
teachers ask me to do. I will obey the laws of my country.

2nd Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be pure - My body is the temple of God, so I want to keep it clean. I will not
swear, smoke, drink alcohol, do drugs, or do any other thing God says is disgusting.

3rd Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be true - I will always tell the truth and never try to deceive - even if I may
get in trouble for it.

4th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be kind - I will look for ways to make other people happy. I will never hurt a
person or animal intentionally. I will share my toys too.

5th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be respectful - I will be courteous to those whom God put in authority over
me (like parents and teachers) and to those who are younger and weaker than me (like little
brothers and sisters). I will take good care of other people’s property, even something as small as
a borrowed pencil.

6th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be attentive - I will listen when someone is talking to me at home, at school
and at church. I will especially listen for God to tell me what to do with my life.

7th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be helpful - I will look for ways to help and not wait to be asked. I can help
family at home, teachers and friends at school. I can even help God.

8th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be cheerful - I will not grumble or complain when I don’t get my way or
when I have work to do. I will remember that God made me; God doesn’t make junk, so I’m not
junk! Knowing that makes me happy.

9th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be thoughtful - I will make courtesy a habit, both in words and actions. I will
look for ways to be nice to people. I will not be rude or irritating.

10th Adventurer -_______________

Jesus can help us to… Be reverent - I will listen carefully to God, His word, and His messages. I will
take good care of my Bible and church property. I will never make fun of holy things.
The Adventurer District Director gives candles to the remaining children and invites the remaining
Adventurers & Staff to light their candles from the Spirit of Adventurers Candle - then place on
table (staff to help children).
Adventurer District Director invites all NEW Adventurers and/or Staff
Put scarf and woggle on new Adventurers (and staff) – if possible.

Adventurer District Director:

“Adventurers, you have just recited the Adventurer Pledge and Law. You have pledged that
because Jesus loves you, you will always do your best. You told us that you will be obedient, true,
kind, etc. and you have lit your candles declaring that you will allow the Spirit of Adventurers
(which is the Spirit of God) to guide you. Therefore, on behalf of the (name of Conference or
Mission) of Seventh Day Adventists, and by the Grace of God, we hereby declare these
candidates to be accepted into the fellowship of the (name of club) Adventurer Club.”

4. PARENTS PLEDGE

Adventurer District Director:

“We wish to invite the parents to come to the front and stand behind their children
(Gives the parents a red candle each)
The child that stands before you needs your warmth, security, and love. The Adventurer Club is to
encourage you in your care of this child but not to take your place. Do you pledge your
participation in fulfilling your child’s pledge of commitment to the Adventurer Club?”

All Parents:
“We do!”
