PROJECT PROPOSAL

I. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

Project Title: Project GISE (Generating Income through Social Entrepreneurship)

II. RATIONALE

Social entrepreneurship is the process of recognizing and resourcefully pursuing


opportunities to create social value. Social entrepreneurs are innovative, resourceful, and results
oriented. They draw upon the best thinking in both the business and nonprofit worlds to develop
strategies that maximizes their social impact. These entrepreneurial leaders operate in all kinds of
organizations: large and small, new, and old, religious, and secular, nonprofit for profit, and hybrid.
In collaboration with Creative Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO), a duly SEC registered
nonprofit, non-stock corporation recognized by the National Youth Commission (NYC) as a youth-
serving, community-based, mission-driven, non-governmental organization that promotes active
citizenship through social entrepreneurship.
In a book How to Change the World: Social Entrepreneurs and the Power of New Idea,
David Bornstein said, “What business entrepreneurs are to the economy; social entrepreneur is to
social change. They are driven, creative individuals who question the status quo, exploit new
opportunities, refuse to give up, and remake the world for the better”
To realize this goal, a conduct of Start-Up Boothcamp as an immersion program for
Entrepreneurship learners that uses learning-by-doing approach to build skills required as an early-
stage entrepreneur. This program is designed to provide information, tips, exercises, and tools to
help entrepreneurs to complete their business plan and launch their business idea.

III. PROJECT PURPOSE

This project is an immersion program for entrepreneurship as one of the exits of the Senior
High School. Specifically, the project aims to:
1. Discover how their business concept matches their personal vision;
2. Aligned their business concept with a real market opportunity;
3. Find their target market and discover their competitive advantage;
4. Learn how to set realistic financial goals for their business;
5. Learn how to manage business functions and develop an organizational culture;
6. Determine the steps to profitability;
7. Identify potential sources of funding for their business;
8. Launch their business.

IV. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The completed business plan of the learners will be presented through a Start-Up
Boothcamp program where group of student entrepreneur showcase their business idea and the
product to be produced and persuade their investor to finance their business idea with the
assistance of Creative Entrepreneurs Organization. After agreement with the investor who will
finance the production of products, the student entrepreneurs will sell to its target customer their
product through Virtual Trade Expo, using PLDT’s Ka-Asenso as the official online platform, the
virtual trade expo showcase the product of all participating student entrepreneurs and invited
resellers.
The income generated from the conduct of the program will be used to support the
selected beneficiaries chosen by Creative Entrepreneurs Organization.

VII. PROPOSED EFFECTS AND ITS OUTCOMES

At the end of this activity, students will be able to apply their entrepreneurial skills through
an actual experience in the form of business pitching and virtual exhibit. Students will be able to
learn the basics of actual selling of a product or a service to a potential customers, buyers, and
investors alike.
