1.0 INTRODUCTION
The history of the School Resource Centre (SRC) began during the British colony of
Malaya, which was previously known as Khutub Khanah, for the purpose of education. A
School Resource Centre (SRC) is a location or room within a school that is stocked with
books, video and audio materials, magazines, and other educational materials. A school
resource centre is a physical and digital learning space at a school where reading, inquiry,
research, thinking, imagination, and creativity are central to students' information-to-
knowledge journeys as well as their personal, social, and cultural development (IFLA, 2015).
The School Resource Centre is an important part of system education. In terms of
curriculum development, SRC also develops information literacy skills that prepare a
knowledge-based society. Aside from that, a school resource centre is a physical and digital
learning space in a school that is equipped with books, magazines, and journals that provide
up-to-date resource-based learning.
