WHAT IS GOD’S

NATURE?
Every manifestation of creative
power is an expression of
infinite love. The sovereignty of
God involves fullness of
blessing to all created beings. .
The history of the great conflict
between good and evil, from the
time it first began in heaven to
the final overthrow of rebellion
and the total eradication of sin,
is also a demonstration of
God’s unchanging love.

PARADOX OF GOOD AND EVIL
Why was sin permitted?

This has been a question of every believer. Sin is so terrible and devastating
that, everyone wishes that it never existed or permitted to do so. Many people
have asked over centuries, why was sin permitted? Since God is all knowing,
why didn’t he exterminate Satan immediately after sinning? Why would God
wait for all of us to sin so that he brings a solution?

These questions have lingered over the years. We will let God answer these
questions today! First, let us know that God is Love. All his intentions are
always good, not only for him but for us too! (1 John 4:8)

From the beginning, God never created anything bad nor evil. He made
everything Very Good!.

Gen 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very
good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

So, how was the evil introduced into the human race?
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For
God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

The Story of Redemption pg. 25.2

Could he be again as he was when he was pure, true, and loyal, gladly would he
yield up the claims of his authority. But he was lost! beyond redemption, for his
presumptuous rebellion! And this was not all; he had led others to rebellion and
to the same lost condition with himself—angels, who had never thought to
question the will of Heaven or refuse obedience to the law of God till he had put
it into their minds, presenting before them that they might enjoy a greater good,
a higher and more glorious liberty. This had been the sophistry whereby he had
deceived them. A responsibility now rests upon him from which he would fain
be released.  - SR 25.2 (Liberty in disobeying God?)

The Story of Redemption Pg. 18.2

This Satan could not bear. He claimed that angels needed no law but should be
left free to follow their own will, which would ever guide them right; that law
was a restriction of their liberty; and that to abolish law was one great object of
his standing as he did. The condition of the angels, he thought, needed
improvement.  - SR 18.2

At this time, Lucifer decided to fight for his position. It was a terrible fight

Rev. 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against
the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 12:8 And prevailed not;
neither was their place found any more in heaven. 12:9 And the great dragon
was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the
whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with
him.

How did Satan start? He became a fault finder. He started not to fight the
commandments, but by trying to pretend to be better and give a better
management.

The Story of Redemption Pg. 37.2

Satan complained of the supposed defects in the management of heavenly
things, and sought to fill the minds of the angels with his disaffection. Because
he was not supreme, he sowed seeds of doubt and unbelief. Because he was not
as God, he strove to instill into the minds of the angels his own envy and
dissatisfaction.  - TA 37.2
The Review and Herald, March 9, 1886.  - TA 36.3
God’s government included not only the inhabitants of heaven but of all the
created worlds; and Satan thought that if he could carry the intelligences of
heaven with him in rebellion, he could also carry with him the other worlds.—

Heaven pleaded with Lucifer to repent of his evil ingenious ways. He refused!
The Story of Redemption Pg. 16.1
Lucifer refused to listen. And then he turned from the loyal and true angels,
denouncing them as slaves. These angels, true to God, stood in amazement as
they saw that Lucifer was successful in his effort to incite rebellion.

Lucifer was in Paradise, that heavenly Eden..!

Ezekiel 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone
was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and
the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the
workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that
thou wast created. 28:15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou
wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.
God never created a devil. He created a perfect being!
The Story of Redemption pg. 13
Lucifer in heaven, before his rebellion, was a high and exalted angel, next in
honor to God’s dear Son. His countenance, like those of the other angels, was
mild and expressive of happiness. His forehead was high and broad, showing a
powerful intellect. His form was perfect; his bearing noble and majestic. A
special light beamed in his countenance and shone around him brighter and

more beautiful than around the other angels; yet Christ, God’s dear Son, had
the pre-eminence over all the angelic host.  - SR 13.1

The Story of Redemption Pg. 16.2

The mighty revolter then declared that he was acquainted with God’s law, and
if he should submit to servile obedience, his honor would be taken from him.  –

Who created this Lucifer? Or where did he come from?

Col. 1:16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in
earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 1:17And
he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
Gen. 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very
good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. {God never
created anything bad. God never created the devil. God created a wonderful
Angel.}

Ezekiel 28:12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and
say unto him, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou sealest up the sum, full of
wisdom, and perfect in beauty. {Lucifer was created in perfect wisdom and
perfect beauty.}

Ezekiel 28:14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so:
thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the
midst of the stones of fire. (Stones of fire = Angels)

{meanimg he was an angel…… covering cherub!}

What is a covering cherub?
Exodus 25:19 And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the
other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends
thereof. 25:20 And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high,
covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to
another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

Hebrew 8:5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as
Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for,
See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern showed to thee
in the mount.
Is there an evidence of a heavenly temple? Has anyone ever seen one?
Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in
his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and
thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub,
from the midst of the stones of fire.
Patriarchs and Prophets, 331.  - TA 36.2
The very first effort of Satan to overthrow God’s law—undertaken among the
sinless inhabitants of heaven—seemed for a time to be crowned with success. A
vast number of the angels were seduced.—

The Story of Redemption pg 13.1

Lucifer was envious of Christ, and gradually assumed command which
devolved on Christ alone.  - SR 13.1

The S.D.A. Bible Commentary 4:1143.  - TA 35.3

He [Lucifer] gained the sympathy of some of his associates by suggesting
thoughts of criticism regarding the government of God. This evil seed was
scattered in a most seducing manner; and after it had sprung up and taken root
in the minds of many, he gathered the ideas that he himself had first implanted
in the minds of others, and brought them before the order of angels as the
thoughts of other minds against the government of God.—

THE HEAVENLY TEMPLE HAS CHERUBIM

What was in the Ark?
Deu 10:1 At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone
like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of
wood. 2 And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables
which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.
1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the
beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might
destroy the works of the devil.

The Review and Herald, August 4, 1910.  - TA 31.2

God did not create evil. He only made the good, which was like Himself.... Evil,
sin, and death ... are the result of disobedience, which originated in Satan.

The Signs of the Times, April 28, 1890.  - TA 30.1

But in this state of peace and purity, sin originated with him who had been
perfect in all his ways. The prophet writes of him: “Thine heart was lifted up
because of thy beauty; thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy
brightness.” Sin is a mysterious, unexplainable thing. There was no reason for
its existence; to seek to explain it is to seek to give a reason for it, and that
Page 5 of 13

would be to justify it. Sin appeared in a perfect universe, a thing that was shown
to be inexcusable.

1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the
transgression of the law.

THE DEVIL SINNED…… WENT AGAINST THE LAW HE WAS

PROTECTING….
Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the
garden thou mayest freely eat: 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou
shalt surely die.

Gen. 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 3:5 For
God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how
art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 14:13 For thou
hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above
the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides
of the north:
(Why North? Could it be that north is the seat of God? The Paradise of God?
That is HEAVEN?)
14:14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most
High.

Patriarchs and Prophets, 35.  - TA 32.1

Little by little, Lucifer came to indulge the desire for self-exaltation.... Though
all his glory was from God, this mighty angel came to regard it as pertaining to
himself.—

I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness
of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in
the water under the earth: 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor
serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that
hate me; 20:6 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and
keep my commandments.

Ezekiel 8:3 And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a lock of
mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and

brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that
looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which
provoketh to jealousy.

Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down
from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 21:3 And
I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with
men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself
shall be with them, and be their God.

Psalms 75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor
from the south.
Early Writings, pg. 41.2}
Dark, heavy clouds came up and clashed against each other. The atmosphere
parted and rolled back; then we could look up through the open space in Orion,
whence came the voice of God. The Holy City will come down through that
open space. {

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS IS TO PROTECT RELATIONSHIPS!

Breaking the Ten Commandments is breaking relationships…. Breaking love

Rom13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth
another hath fulfilled the law. 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery,
Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou
shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly
comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the
law.

Good News Bible

Romans 13:8  Be under obligation to no one—the only obligation you have is to
love one another. Whoever does this has obeyed the Law. 9 The commandments,
“Do not commit adultery; do not commit murder; do not steal; do not desire
what belongs to someone else”—all these, and any others besides, are summed
up in the one command, “Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” 10 If you
love others, you will never do them wrong; to love, then, is to obey the whole
Law.
Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your
sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Good News Bible
Isaiah 59:2 It is because of your sins that he doesn't hear you. It is your sins that
separate you from God when you try to worship him.  3 You are guilty of lying,
violence, and murder.

So, has Satan ever thought of his wrong doing? Hasn’t he ever wanted to
repent?

The Story of Redemption Pg. 26.1

Satan trembled as he viewed his work. He was alone in meditation upon the
past, the present, and his future plans. His mighty frame shook as with a
tempest. An angel from heaven was passing. He called him and entreated an
interview with Christ. This was granted him. He then related to the Son of God
that he repented of his rebellion and wished again the favor of God. He was
willing to take the place God had previously assigned him, and be under His
wise command. Christ wept at Satan’s woe but told him, as the mind of God,
that he could never be received into heaven. Heaven must not be placed in
jeopardy.

The Great Controversy, 495, 496.  - TA 40.2

God in His great mercy bore long with Lucifer. He was not immediately
degraded from his exalted station when he first indulged the spirit of discontent,
not even when he began to present his false claims before the loyal angels.
Long was he retained in heaven. Again and again he was offered pardon on
condition of repentance and submission.

Opposite of Love is self…… selfishness……….

Love is the fulfillness of the law…. An attack on the law of God, is an attack on
Love…..

So what finally happened? Satan carried out a rebellion!

Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast
them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to
be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 12:7 And there was
war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the
dragon fought and his angels, 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place
found any more in heaven. 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old
serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was
cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

How many Angels were in Heaven? Too many beyond human counting.
Rev 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the
throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand
times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

Satan had raised a huge campaign against God. Yes, ask where campaigns
came from!

Were the Angels fully aware of the real intentions of Satan?

Christ’s Object Lessons, 72.  - TA 38.3
Even the loyal angels did not fully discern his [Satan’s] character. This was why
God did not at once destroy Satan. Had He done so, the holy angels would not
have perceived the justice and love of God. A doubt of God’s goodness would
have been as evil seed that would yield the bitter fruit of sin and woe. Therefore
the author of evil was spared, fully to develop his character.—
The Review and Herald, January 28, 1909.  - TA 34.2
Satan ... began his work of rebellion with the angels under his command,
seeking to diffuse among them the spirit of discontent. And he worked in so
deceptive a way that many of the angels were won to his allegiance before his
purposes were fully known. —

The Review and Herald, September 7, 1897.  - TA 41.1

In the councils of heaven it was decided that principles must be acted upon that
would not at once destroy Satan’s power; for it was God’s purpose to place
things upon an eternal basis of security. Time must be given for Satan to
develop the principles which were the foundation of his government. The
heavenly universe must see worked out the principles which Satan declared to
be superior to God’s principles. God’s order must be contrasted with Satan’s
order. The corrupting principles of Satan’s rule must be revealed. The
principles of righteousness expressed in God’s law must be demonstrated as
unchangeable, perfect, eternal.—

Eze 22:9 In thee are men that carry tales {trading… I cant buy} to shed blood:

teacheth lies, he is the tail.

Eze 28:18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities,

His [Lucifer’s] work of deception was done in so great secrecy that the angels in
less exalted positions supposed that he was the Ruler of heaven.—

The Father consulted His Son in regard to at once carrying out their purpose to
make man to inhabit the earth. He would place man upon probation to test his
loyalty before he could be rendered eternally secure. If he endured the test
wherewith God saw fit to prove him, he should eventually be equal with the
angels.

The Story of Redemption Pg. 20.2

After the earth was created, and the beasts upon it, the Father and Son carried
out their purpose, which was designed before the fall of Satan, to make man in
their own image.  - SR 20.2

Christ had been taken into the special counsel of God in regard to His plans,
while Lucifer was unacquainted with them. He did not understand, neither was
he permitted to know, the purposes of God.

The Story Redemption Pg. 20.2

And now God said to His Son, “Let us make man in our image.” As Adam came
forth from the hand of his Creator he was of noble height and of beautiful
symmetry………. His features were perfect and beautiful. His complexion was
neither white nor sallow, but ruddy, glowing with the rich tint of health. Eve
was not quite as tall as Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders.
She, too, was noble, perfect in symmetry, and very beautiful.  –
