WASTE MANAGEMENT

Garbage discharge is frequently neither left on the streets nor thrown in

waterways, causing Health and environmental issues as well as adding to the

worsening pollution problem. People are exposed to hazardous substances as

a result of the waste problem, which pollutes the air, water, and land. The

majority of rubbish takes years to decompose, causing significant damage to

the environment. Garbage dumped on the side of the street has become the

subject of community concerns, not only because it degrades the aesthetic

appeal of the environment, but also because it emits bad smells and also

has a negative impact on public health, not to mention the substantial threat

to people's health. Since improperly disposed waste poses a danger of

transmission of disease, some waste has been classified as having a higher

risk than others.

Diarrhea, influenza, pneumonia, TB, malaria, and measles are the major

Causes of morbidity, according to research. Improper waste disposal could be

Responsible for unsanitary circumstances. Unsanitary conditions are to blame

For most of the other health issues that citizen of our  community  face.
Unfortunately, notwithstanding the government’s warnings and efforts, pollution

remains a major concern to mankind, primarily due to waste.

This type of situation could be prevented by properly disposing of waste,

reducing single-use beverages containers and utensils (like single-use plastic

cups, disposable spoons and forks, and plastic straws) can also reduce the

amount of waste. We should also utilize environmentally friendly materials

such as reusable bags (eco-bag) to lessen our reliance on single-use plastic

bags.
CLIMATE CHANGE

The Philippines has already been suffering from torrential rains for the past

month. Due to the continuous rainfall, numerous agricultural lands have

indeed been devastated.

This seems to be undesirable because it can result in decreased

respiration, transpiration, and photosynthesis. Because of these circumstances,

farmers cannot anticipate plants to recover rapidly after the rainwater recedes

or subsides. In the big scheme of things, crops that have already been

soaked become more susceptible to disease infection (particularly stalk and

root rot). The majority of the land areas had been inundated, they could not

have been able to be planted. I didn't include all of these to discourage

anyone; rather, we need to be aware of the obstacles that planting during

the rainy season poses to both large and small-scale farmers.

The bridge's level of water has risen towards the point that it should be

temporarily closed for the community's security. Several individuals have been

unable to get to the workplace or even to their destination due to the

temporary bridge being closed. We can prevent a catastrophe like this by

establishing flood plans including overflow areas in our community, improving

flood warning systems, and taking action in our community.

DEFORESTATION

Agriculture, unsustainable forest management, mining,  and increased fire

incidence and severity are the most prominent stressors generating

deforestation and severe forest degradation. Forests are degraded through

inadequate land management and unsustainable fuelwood collection, which

most often leads to "death by a thousand cuts" deforestation. Forests are

being converted to pastures, villages, roadways, and infrastructures, as well

as the pulp, palm, and soy crops. Several of the causes of deforestation

seem to be human-made, while others have been derived from nature.

Fires are an inevitable fact, but degraded forests are especially vulnerable.

These include extensively logged rainforests, forests on peat soils, and areas

Where forest fires have been suppressed for years, allowing an unnatural

Accumulation of vegetation to fuel the fire. Illegal logging occurs in all types

of forests destroying nature and wildlife, taking away community livelihoods,

and distorting trade. Illegally harvested wood finds its way into major

consumption markets.

Due to the rising demand and high mineral prices, the

impact of mining on tropical forests has become more apparent. Mining

operations are frequently accompanied by significant infrastructure projects

such as highways, railway lines, and power plants, putting additional strain on

forests and freshwater environments. Planting a tree, using much less paper,

rehashing old recyclable materials, as well as avoiding burning firewood

unnecessarily are all ways of reducing but also preventing deforestation.
WASTE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES OF HOUSEHOLDS TO OUR COMMUNITY

In the Philippines, waste disposal is one of the most serious environmental

issues. In developing countries, inefficient waste collection and a lack of

disposal facilities are prevalent issues. Emerging economies are more affected

than industrialized countries due to a lack of resources to purchase innovative

and expensive technologies to waste management efforts. However, studies

reveal that given the types of garbage generated and the typical condition in

most poor nations, this type of technology may not necessarily be a solution,

but rather, if not well managed, may result in larger financial debt and more

environmental and health damage. Rapid population development, urbanization,

and modernization have all contributed to increased waste output, particularly

in urban areas; and how this has resulted in a variety of environmental and

human health issues. Due to a large number of waste heaps, it is

conceivable to come across a pile of rubbish holding diseases that could

infect us. People are exposed to hazardous substances as a result of the

waste problem, which pollutes the air, water, and land. Clogged, insufficient

inland drainage, and blocked waterways are all contributing to our

community's chronic flooding problem.

Unfortunately, despite the government's warnings and attempts, pollution

continues to be a huge worry for humanity, owing mostly to waste. Some

people throw their trash in a corner, which isn't normally a designated pick-up

location. In the streets, there are no garbage cans. Disease-causing organisms

breed In the waste that has been deposited. Furthermore, scavengers and

stray animals disseminate the abandoned waste. Some household respondents

speculated that open dumps in specific places may have been the source of

dengue illness in some of their relatives. Household trash management is the

responsibility of mothers and domestic bits of help. The garbage produced in

the country is mostly biodegradable or mainly organic, as well as recyclable.

As a result, composting has a lot of promise. Because the residual wastes

Are made up of paper, cardboard, plastics, and metals. Recycling offers a lot

Of promise. The study's findings also suggest that existing and projected

Trash generation volumes are beyond the capacity of urban and urbanizing

populations. This type of situation could be prevented by properly disposing of

waste. We must prevent waste disposal and instead develop and maintain
sanitary waste disposal procedures, as well as improve public awareness

efforts. We should support some waste management and recycling programs.

The significance of the participation of various stakeholders, the development

of awareness and education campaigns, and the identification of appropriate

technology based on the existing condition and available resources are

demonstrated using the experiences of some selected case studies. The

municipality should come to a decision on how good governance can support

solid waste management and sustainable recycling industry through the

participation of diverse stakeholders, robust awareness campaigns, and the

development and replication of new and relevant technology.
