Dance Evolution Installation Guide

Requirements :

- A computer
- A kinect
- A kinect adapter to PC
- Arcade HDD data

1/ Install kinect SDK on your PC

You must download and install these files :

- http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36996 (Kinect SDK)

- http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36998 (Kinect developer tools)
2/ Install directx SDK

- http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812 (Directx SDK)

/!\ Attention /!\ If you don’t install directx SDK, the game won’t display any graphic thing.

In many cases, the installation will fail at the end because you have Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable
Package version 10.0.40219 (Service Pack 1) installed.

- So you have to Remove the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package version 10.0.40219
(Service Pack 1) from the system (both x86 and x64 if applicable). This can be easily done via
a command-line with administrator rights:
MsiExec.exe /passive /X{F0C3E5D1-1ADE-321E-8167-68EF0DE699A5}
MsiExec.exe /passive /X{1D8E6291-B0D5-35EC-8441-6616F567A0F7}

- Install the DirectX SDK (June 2010)

- Reinstall the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package version 10.0.40219 (Service Pack 1). On
an x64 system, you should install both the x86 and x64 versions of the C++ REDIST. Be sure to
install the most current version available (http://www.microsoft.com/en-
us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26999).

That’s all for directx SDK, keep in mind that if you don’t install this, your game will look like
this :

Instead of this :
3/ Prepare game files

- Get all the games files (KDM-001, English UI, libacio.dll) AND these resource_lists.arc file :
https://mega.co.nz/#!bco13AgC!3T6Ryhb9C7B1L6QKo-JvYY2DsatYuCv6qIJMhhr6CBE
- Libacio.dll = > Replace the same file in the "contents\module" directory.
- English UI => Put (and replace) that UI patch into "contents\data\bm2d".
- Resource_lists.arc => Replace the same file in the "contents\data\arc”
- Remove the “read only” option on the “contents” folder

Additional note : resource_lists.arc will unlock few songs.

4/configure the boot file

- Edit the “KDM-001\launch\boot_factory.bat” file

Modify :

- set PRJ_DIR=d:\KDM-001
=> modify to the folder where the files are located ; eg : “d:\games\dance evolution\” or
anything you want

- set DAMAC_VIEWER_FULLSCREEN=1
=> modify to “:: set DAMAC_VIEWER_FULLSCREEN=1” to launch the game in windowed
mode ; if you want the fullscreen mode, don’t modify anything on these line.

5/configure your Kinect

Previously, you had installed Kinect developer tools, so let’s use it !

- Launch Kinect developer tools (use the start menu seach function) and go to the “tools” tab :

- Run the Kinect Explorer-D2D application (there’s a run button on the right !)
- Ajust the Kinect sensor tilt angle in order to display your whole skeleton AND the floor.

Congratulations ! you can launch the game now !

Just execute “boot_factory.bat”

6/configure the game

/!\ Important /!\

Here are the navigation keys :

- Q : test button
- W : Player 1 Star
- E : Player 1 Lef
- R : Player 1 right
- T : Player 2 Star
- Y : Player 2 Lef
- U : Player 2 Right

In the main menu :

- move up/down with the E or R key (P1 Left/Right).

- move left/right with the Y or U key (P2 Left/Right).
- confirm with the “W” Key (P1 start).
First, set the clock ; use the “Q” key to enter in the main menu and skip the message

Set the clock

Save and exit once the clock is set.

Let’s put the game on freeplay mode now, go to the coin option and set freeplay to ON.
Save and exit once the freeplay mode is set.
To finish, we have to disable the network ; neither Konami (of course) or PSUN supports Dance Dance
Evolution (yet ?) ; that’s why we didn’t modify the “eamuse-config.xml” file
Save and exit once the Network is set. You’ll have to reboot the game to apply the network
modification.

And surprise, the game is here !
