2: Lesson Planning using ASSURE Model
ASSURE MODEL LESSON PLAN Subject: Technology for teaching and learning Topic: Roles of technology for teaching and learning Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes A. ANALYZE LEARNERS General Characteristics: The lesson is designed for senior high school students specifically grade 12 students. The class is made up of females and males, there are 30 students and 60% are girls and 40% are boys. The students are eager to learn in order to broaden their knowledge about technology. Entry Characteristics: The students in this class are skilled in the use of computers and technology. However, it is only limited with social media platforms and other applications. Thus, students enjoy doing activities about learning the roles of technology and the different software and apps that will help them in their learning. They have also learned of how technology will affect teaching and learning if it is used without limitations. Learning Styles: Students in the class exhibit a variety of learning style such as visual, and auditory learners. However, majority of them prefer to learn and explore on their own. B. STATE OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: Identify roles of technology in teaching and learning Appreciate the value of technology in supporting student learning Be able to apply the roles in real world. C. SELECT MEDIA, MATERIALS AND METHODS Media: Use of videos and pictures to create assignment Materials: Students will have access to computers, printers, word processing software, video and audio editing software, and the Internet . Methods: Students will try different software and applications and will listen to the teachers’ discussion. Teacher will facilitate the students in order to guide them for their learning Students will be given a quiz to ensure they have achieved the learning objectives. D. UTILIZE MEDIA, MATERIALS AND METHODS Environmental Preparation: Students sit according to their classroom arrangement, facing the white screen or black board. Desks are to be arranged in a manner that allows for small group work. E. REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION Induction Set: The teacher will have a discussion on how technology affect the student learning, providing instances that tackles how it affect the teaching and learning process, and will give students a short quiz to share their opinion and ideas related to the topic. Presentation Stage: Students will actively participate in this stage. They will share their ideas and opinion about the topic and relate it to the real-life experiences.
Practice Stage: Students will be given time to answer the questions given to them.
Production Stage: Each one of the students is required to answer problems
especially the roles of technology in teaching and learning process.
Closure: The teacher emphasizes on what they have learned through the lesson.
Skills to Practice: How technology affect them.
F. EVALUATE AND REVISE Learner Evaluation: The following areas are evaluated: Students’ responses The completion of the task Evaluation of Methods and Media: Students’ discipline and obedience during the activities are evaluated for future reference. Revision: The teacher and the students reflect on the lesson to improve both teaching and learning outcome in the future lesson.
