Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics 7

Here are the steps to solve this problem: 1) Add all the numbers in the data set: 15 + 14 + 12 + 13 + 14 + 17 + 11 + 13 + 11 + 14 = 138 2) Divide the sum by the number of values: 138 / 10 = 13.8 3) Therefore, the average (mean) number of customers per day for the 10 barbershops is 13.8.

SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

School Bayugan National Comprehensive High School

Teacher Janver D. Engaño

Date and Time 8:00 – 9:00 am

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of key

concepts, uses and importance of Statistics, data
collection/gathering and the different forms of data
representation, measures of central tendency,
measures of variability, and probability.

B. Performance Standard The learner is able to collect and organize data

systematically and compute accurately measures of
central tendency and variability and apply these
appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in
different fields.

C. Learning Competencies The learner calculates the measure of central

tendency of ungrouped data (mean)

D. Enabling Objectives At the end of the class, the students will be able to:

Illustrate the concepts of measures of

central tendency of ungrouped data (mean)
Find the mean of ungrouped data
Value the importance of cooperation in the
given activity.
II. CONTENT Measures of Central Tendency of Ungrouped Data
(Mean)

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Before the Lesson

1. Elicit Recall the last topic that have been discussed. Let
students define measure of central tendency and
then let them to enumerate and differentiate it.

2. Engage Group the students into two groups. And then, each
group will be given a pamphlet that contains a data
and a task for them to complete. Later on, it will be
present into the class to have a sharing of ideas.

DATA A

Math Age
Teacher

A 43

B 42

C 38

D 36

E 38

F 39
Pamphlet 1
Task

- Add all the given data

Pamphlet 2
Task

- Divide the sum of the data

to the number of data

B. Lesson Proper

1. Explore Group the students again into 4 groups and let them
do the following instructions projected in the screen.
(Each will be given a pen and cartolina)

Instruction:

 List down the age of each member in the

group
 Find the mean (Show your complete
solution)
 Write your solution in the cartolina
provided
 Choose a representative to present your
work

2. Explain After doing the activity, students will present their

work in the class. As indicated in the instruction, each
of the group will choose their representative to show
their answer in the class. Other members will be also
ask randomly on how they arrive their answer, what
can they say about the data, define ungrouped data
and what mathematical concepts did they apply in
finding the solution.

C. After the Lesson

1. Elaborate Present the following examples:

Example 1.

Mr. Aljur collect the data on the ages of

Math teachers in Sta. Teresita National High School.
And his study yields the following;

38, 35, 28, 36, 35, 33, 40

Compute the mean.

Solution:

a.) Add all the numbers in the data set

- 38+35+28+36++35+33+40 = 245
b.) Divide the sum of all the data by the
number of values in the given data
- 245/7 = 35

∑𝑥
X̄ =
𝑛

where:

X̄ = mean

∑ 𝑥 = summation of the values in a certain data

n = number of values in data

38+35+28+36++35+33+40
X̄ =
7
245
X̄ =
7

X̄ = 35 , based on the computed mean, 35 is the

average age of math teachers in STNHS.

Example 2.

A group of students obtained the following

scores in Math quiz. Find the mean.

8, 7, 10, 10, 8, 6, 9, 6, 8

Solution:
a.) Add all the numbers in the data set
- 8+7+10+10+8+6+9+6+8 = 72
b.) Divide the sum of all the data by the
number of values in the given data
- 72/9 = 8

8+7+10+10+8+6+9+6+8
X̄ =
9
72
X̄ =
9

X̄ = 8 , Thus, 8 is the mean score of their quiz.

2. Evaluate Direction: Read and answer each question carefully.

1. Find the mean of the following data.

(a.) 9, 7, 11, 8, 6, 9
(b.) ¼, 1/3, 3/5, 4/7
2. Find the mean of the first ten whole
numbers
3. Find the mean of the first 5 numbers

3. Extend Ask the students to answer the given problem.

Problem:

In a survey of small business in Bayugan, 10

barber shop reported the number of costumers they
have per day. Given the data below, compute the
average costumers the barbershop has every day.

15, 14, 12, 13, 14, 17, 11, 13, 11, 14
