No one seems to have a rock solid solution as to which test to run as well as when and why. Neither
do I, but I have been able to clear some of the toughest work orders recently.
Most of the errors I have seen have been 95 01 (24 vdc error) and 31 XX (transport sensor blocked
error). This situation refers to a problem for which APTRA diagnostics cannot repair. Refer to the 72 page
Glory document pages 10-13. Based upon the error code received, perform an all clear on that device.
Next, you should recalibrate the sensors on the entire unit. Do this with the unit racked in as far as
possible.
Sometimes, you may receive and error on the board which points to a certain sensor Error 7X XX. Calibrate
that individual sensor. The entire procedure is on page 55 of 72.
Once you are done calibrating, perform a reset of the unit using RAS.
07 01 Return Reset.
Then set your switches back to the normal position and power reset the unit. And don't forget to perform a
FORCED REFUND when the application loads up.
This isn't bullet proof by any means. But I have spent some time on these units and this is what works for
me, for now. More to come.
Scott A. McGrath
FYI............ When 9501 appears & covers the real error, the ce can hit the right button once and it will
clear the 9501 interlock fault (assuming the interlock is now pulled) and display the previous entry
which would likely be the real error.
Also, I usually have the techs pull the power from the BNA when entering & leaving the RAS tests
without rebooting the atm, and have never ever had an issue with the BNA with that procedure. I have
been able to go into RAS & clear a fault on the BNA, exit RAS, & then clear it in device status afterward,
and the software never knows the BNA even left during the RAS tests during which the BNA is offline
with the core. Just saying that in case you don't want to wait for the reboots every time we enter & leave
RAS.

1. Perform shutdown and power ATM down and disconnect AC cord from back of core and
enable interlock for BNA.
2. Remove small panel off side of BNA to reveal CPU-T PCB: 5886 is on the right hand side
below the CPM and with the 5890 it's on the left hand side of BNA.
3. Locate far left 8 switch dipswitch pack, there are 4 all together. This pack will already have
switch 2 on, put switch 8 on also. This enables your RAS test.
4. Power up atm, remember the core has no AC so you don’t have to worry about corrupting
Windows by powering on and off.
5. Locate your 2 rotary dials by the display, usually blue, and rotate the left most dial until
you have an "F" on the left side of display.
6. Now rotate the right hand rotary dial until you have another "F" on the display. Your
display will now have only "FF" on it.
7. Press the left most button to put a cursor "_" under the left most "F". Rotate the left dial
until you get "0" and rotate right dial you get "7" and "07 F" on the LCD.
8. Press the left button again and watch the cursor move under the right hand "F", rotate left
dial until you get a "0" and then right dial for "1" and "07 01" on LCD.
9. Press the left button again and now the BNA will run the restore reset test and hopefully it
will clear the error. On 5890 atm's that are exposed to sunlight you will
need to rack the BNA in after you press the button and maybe cover the infeed with
something to keep sunlight from causing sensor errors. If you disturb the
interlock you will get a 9501 error on the display meaning no 24v to BNA and you will have
to start from step 4 again so watch that.
10. If the test is successful the "07 01" will stay on the display and you can power the atm off
and put switch 8 off and reconnect AC to core and power on.
11. If at any time you are trying to get the "07 01" on the display and you cant get the correct
numbers, power down the atm and start from step 4 again.
12. Once you clear the error successfully on the BNA you will need to go into device status
and clear the error there and test with Forced Encash from diag menu.
13. There are many other RAS test that can be performed for various things like sensor
adjust and memory clear but "07 01" seems to be the one that clears up
the most stubborn errors. If after running this test and replacing the device that is listed as
causing the error you still cant clear, replace the CPU-T PCB.
If after you replace the CPU-T PCB you still have the error, give Level 2 a call, we can run
some of the other RAS test and hopefully be able to repair with no
additional parts usage or expense.
1. Turn on switch DSW1-8 (leftmost pack, rightmost switch)
2. Power up BNA
3. Set rotary switches to FF (must detect a change, so if it was FF, change it ot 0F then FF)
4. Press PSW1 (ST) button (leftmost button), you should have a cursor under the first F.
Eg. reset, return notes to customer = 0701. Motors should cycle, 0701 should be flashing
during command.
To exit, turn off switch DSW1-8 (leftmost pack, rightmost switch) & power cycle the unit.
4001 error: MSW1 or MSW3 is open indicating “inner cover is open”. MSW3 opens when the
feed reject is moved forward (clearing a jam)
NOTE: MSW1 is in series with MSW3 so either switch can cause the error.

Location of switch
To help find the location, on the CPU T PCB find CN17, 2 pin plug, follow harness to switch.
Switch is toggled by the garage door being open and closed.
Switch is above the door , next to the hinge side

Troubleshooting a BNA2 interlock 9501 error:
• Make sure the device interlocks are pulled out or the devices are racked completely
in. NOTE: the dispenser interlock will also kill the BNA and give a 9501 error.
• Make sure the transport doors are closed, especially the door on the rear. It will kill
the +24 volts and give a 9501 error.
• Check power on J5 at the top right corner of the power board referencing the attached
picture. You should measure +24 volts on all 3 orange wires. The 3 grey wires are
+24 volts returns, but for this check it should be OK to use the black +5 volt return
wire, to avoid shorting the meter leads together. Use the pin connections exposed on
the top side of the plug.
• If any of the orange wires is missing the +24 volts, check for +24 volts at the top of
all five fuses. If the rightmost fuse is blown there will be no power to the other 4
fuses. The fuse on the right is 4 amp, the other four fuses are 5 amp.
• NOTE: the fuses may look good but the filament may have a bad solder connection in
the end of the fuse. One CE reported repairing the filament connection by heating the
end of the fuse with his soldering iron.
• Power cycle the atm once the problem is resolved and run a “Force Refund” test to
clear the transport.
PLEASE CALL LEVEL 2 ATM SUPPORT - PIN 2620 BEFORE ARRIVAL AND
UPON ARRIVAL SO WE CAN GO THROUGH THE PROCEDURE TOGETHER. We
are attempting to track cause and solution and PS Dayton or Dundee may request parts
for analysis.
ONSITE VERIFICATION
1) Verify 8B06 on CPU-T main control board LCD display
2) Verify 2 latch recognition unit as ABV assembly
3) Remove DC power to BNA, this will be listed as plug 3 or 24V DC on BNA frame (or perform a controlled shutdown)
4) Inspect all BNA / USB connections, reseat if needed. Be aware 66XX ATM’s utilize USB Hubs, check these connections as
well.
5) Reconnect DC power (or Power up ATM)

6) Installation Failed?
If BV Control Firmware is “0500”, there are probably no templates listed, the USB link is asleep.
Repair is necessary. Then reload TDU again.
Re-check USB connections. Remember, if 66XX, check USB connections to and from Hub…
If error message “Bill Validator Failure” appears, replace Recognition Unit kit no. 009-0021695
Also, if the ATM uses a USB Hub, then the Hub may require replacement.
Also may need new CPU-T main control PCB 009-0020832
