Château TEYSSIER Vignonet

Jonathan Maltus has transformed St-Émilion Grand Cru Château Teyssier into one of the most sought-after wines of the appellation with riper fruit
and well-controlled elevage. As well as the St-Emilion Grand Cru wines, there is a weighty but still fresh Sémillon-based white which is only
entitled to the lowly Bordeaux AC since no white wines are permitted in the St-Emilion appellation. Along with Teyssier, Jonathan has extended the
range in both directions, including some first class generic wines under the Pezat label.

“Since purchasing the estate in 1994, Jonathan and Lyn Maltus have raised the quality of Château Teyssier to rival that of the Crus Classés” (Oz
Clarke & Steven Spurrier’s Fine Wine Guide)

PEZ15 BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR 'Pezat' 2015 12x75cl £13.80 £165.60
Along with Ausone, Teyssier was cited by Wine Behind The Label as a
"stellar cellar" for its portfolio including this 'soft and attractive, relatively
forward, spicy St-Emilion full of fleshy, dark, plummy fruit'. Pezat is made
in the same style but ready to drink at a younger age.

Pascal et Nicolas REVERDY Sancerre

It isn't often that we enjoy Sauvignon Blanc but the Reverdy family consistently manages to produce wines which are just that little bit more rounded
and beautifully balanced. The prestige cuvee, Les Anges Lots, is aged in barrels which further rounds it out. However, the family also makes some
fabulous red and rose wines from Pinot Noir which are sweet, fresh and very alluring.

Burgundy

Jacques GIRARDIN Santenay

The wines are elegant and authentic Burgundies, the reds smooth and unctuous and the Santenay Blanc proving that rarities can be hidden gems.
We have selected the three Premier Cru wines from Santenay which we felt to be a considerable step up from the Village 'Vieilles Vignes', with
quite distinct, vineyard specific characters. They all spend 12 months in barriques, 30% new so it really is the terroir that makes the difference.
'Maladiere' always displays more black fruit character whereas 'Beauregard' is fleshier and 'Clos Rouseau' the most instantly accessible.

Antione LIENHARDT Nuits St Georges

If you are a Burgophile who simply wants excellent Pinot but are unconcerned with labels, Antione Lienhardt's wines will be just what you are
looking for since, as most of the range comes from the humble Côte de Nuits, these are wines that punch well above their weight without breaking
the bank.

Burgundy

Domaine JOBLOT Givry

No-one who knows Burgundy would argue with the assertion that Domaine Joblot is the greatest estate in southern Burgundy. Only the home estate
of DRC's Aubert de Villaine's comes anywhere close to rivalling the wines of Jean-Marc and Vincent Joblot. It is not going too far to say that the
wines made in this 14ha estate are better than many grand cru wines from the Cote d'Or. All the wines have excellent levels of concentration with
impressive depth and acidity which is considered at least as important here as sugar levels.

Rhône Valley: Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Château de BEAUCASTEL/Famille PERRIN Orange ECOCERT

Consistently the greatest and longest-lived Châteauneuf-du-Pape of all, Beaucastel has an unusually high Mourvèdre content of around 35% in most
vintages. This gives it great longevity, concentration and structure. A must for any Châteauneuf enthusiast.

A new project for Domaine de la Charite's owner, Christophe Coste, who owns a hectare of old-vine Grenache in the Gallimardes sector in the
south of the appellation. His first vintage has turned out a superb, deep fruited, prestige quality wine.

Raymond USSEGLIO Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Stéphane Usseglio makes rich, full wines from vines over 50 years old, consistently in the top tier of wines from the appellation since 1998. Wines
tend to be more elegant than many of their peers, an important consideration when choosing wines to enjoy with food. "Cuvée Impériale" comes
from vines planted in 1902 at La Crau, one of the most renowned lieu dits in the appellation. Whilst Parker generally shows a preference for highly-
extracted, jammy wines, even he cannot deny the charm of these elegant wines which he regularly awards with ratings well into the nineties.

XAVIER VIGNON Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Xavier Vignon is one of the top consultant winemakers in the south of France. He used to be a master Champagne blender (so he knows a thing or
two about constructing wines) but now lives in the Rhône Valley from where he visits around 300 estates to advise them on viticulture and
vinification. He sources grapes from many of his clients and makes an ever evolving range of wines which reflect the highest quality the region has

The Arcane range

Xavier is in the process of creating a new range which is designed to be the ultimate expression of a vintage, a grape or a terroir . It is a fascinating
range, one in which the normal rules do not apply so, for example, we have listed them by cuvee name rather than appellation. Unlike other cuvees,
the wines are produced once only and in limited quantities.

Domaine BON REMEDE Mazan

As with most of the estates we work with, Bon Remede is one we have been visiting for years so we know these wines well. Frederic and Lucile
Delay are the third generation to farm this 28 ha estate in the best sector of the Ventoux appellation. The subscribe to the Terra Vitis approach
whereby all the wines are farmed organically but, for us, it is the quality of the wines that impresses, especially given the low prices of this range. La
Grange Delay is the flagship wine which punches well above its weight but for more specialist cuvees, look to Vignes Rousses (mostly Carignan)
or Secret de Vincent (almost pure Syrah).

Domaine BRUSSET Cairanne

One of the most important estates in both Gigondas and Cairanne, established in 1947 by André Brusset, grandfather of Laurent, the current
winemaker. There are two Gigondas cuvées, “Le Grand Montmirail” and the oaked “Les Hauts de Montmirail”. Both are consistently amongst the
finest wines to come out of the appellation each year with “Les Hauts” one of the most long-lived and powerful. “Chabriles” is a top-flight prestige
cuvée from one of the leading Côtes du Rhône Villages . Hommage and Secrets are rare wines flying the flag for their respective appellations.

This excellent Côtes du Rhône estate is managed by the dynamic, youthful Christophe Coste who manages his family’s 45 ha of vines. In only his

then. In addition to La Charite, Christophe also owns Chateauneuf estate, Chateau Capucine.

Chateau JUVENAL St Hipployte les Graveyron ECOCERT

We have been following the progress of Chateau Juvenal from its early days and, like anyone else who has tasted the wines here, have been blown
away by the quality. The standard range, Ribes de Vallat, offers a stunning Clairette/Viognier blend with more than a nod towards fine Burgundy, a
delightful rose and a Grenache-dominated red with a very Burgundian moutfeel. The slightly more expensive Terre du Petit Homme red is a more
classic barrel-aged Grenache/Syrah blend which will stand the test of time. In short, a real find.

Domaine SAINTE-ANNE St Gervais

Long regarded as perhaps the very best estate in the Cotes du Rhone Villages appellation, the wines of Ste-Anne have the purity normally associated
with mono-varietal regions such as Burgundy. The Steinmayer family came from Austria via Burgundy so that may be the reason. Top cuvees are
all mono-varietal too: Rouvieres is a Bandol-esque Mourvedre whilst Mourillons, the only cuvee to see wood, is 100% Syrah in the style of a top St
Joseph.

Pierre GAILLARD Malleval

A pioneering winemaker, Pierre Gaillard's first vineyard was the Clos de Cuminaile in St Joseph. He now farms 25 hectares in the region including
the Seyssuel vineyard (he is also one of the three men behind the Vins de Vienne) and, more recently, he has added estates in the Languedoc and
Roussillon regions to his portfolio. Quality is high throughout.

Mas de Daumas Gassac is generally regarded as the Languedoc's greatest wine, perhaps the only truly world-class wine the region has to offer.
Organically produced grapes on low yielding vines become fully ripe whilst retaining their expression of the exceptional terroir. Wines are vins de
pays since the main variety used (80%) is Cabernet Sauvignon which is not permitted under AOC rules.

New to the range is “Terra”, a high quality wine from mature Grenache and Syrah that is the first wine from this estate to be organically certified.

In addition to the grand vin, the family oversees a négociant operation in the valley, producing a range of wines under the Moulin de Gassac label.
These are reliably good, straightforward expressions of the varietals and blends used.

“The only grand cru of the Languedoc” (Hugh Johnson)

Domaine MADELOC Banyuls-sur-Mer

Pierre Gaillard enjoys fortified wines so it was inevitable that he would find a property in Banyul-su-Mer, home to France's finest Port-style wines,
made here from Grenache. He makes several examples including 'Terre Mer' a Banyuls/Maury blend made in partnership with Terres de
Fagayras but the icing on the cake is the solera dating back to 1920 from which he draws just a few cases each year.

Château de SALLES
Château de Salles, a 30 hectare vineyard owned by Benoit Hébert, is located in the heart of the Bas-Armagnac region in the Gers département of
South-West France. Fine Armagnacs have long been made here, using recipes and techniques handed down from generation to generation. The
vineyard has been recognized by "Excellence Gers” and vintages 1986, 1988 and 1990 have all been awarded Gold medals at the Concours Agricole
in Paris.

Fabrizio BATTAGLINO Vezza d'Alba

Within two years of taking over the family estate, Fabrizio had his first Tre Bicchieri award. The vineyards are planted to Nebbiolo, Barbera and
Arneis in the under-valued Roero district (the "other one") and, as such represent excellent value for such superb wines, each wine revealing the
winemaker's sensitivity. A particular success - and hugely popular - is the sweet "Bric Bastia" made from late-harvested Arneis, a rarity indeed.

Angelo GRASSO Calosso

One of the great things about the Italian vineyards is their ability to throw up rare and wonderful grape varieties. At a restaurant in Calosso, we
discovered a page dedicated to the local grape, Gamba di Pernice, so called because so-called because of the shape of the clusters and their red
stalks. Angelo Grasso is the man behind the very best example of this fascinating grape but his production is a mere 610 bottles per year.

A good find: the Grasso brothers make high quality Barbaresco which they leave to age before marketing so we are able to offer some mature

Giovanni MANZONE Monforte d'Alba

Giovanni Manzone is a traditionalist who employs some modern techniques including long macerations and the use of French barrels. The wines
have been improving wonderfully over the last few years and 2007 saw a vintage of some exceptionally ripe grapes producing wines that put this
estate firmly in the top tier of Barolo production.

Enrico Nada has been at the helm since 2008. Treiso is one of the four Barbaresco communes, considered to produce the most fragrant Nebbiolo

good wines which are flamboyant and, as such, work extremely well on restaurant lists.

ITALY - Veneto

I CAMPI Verona
Flavio Pra is to the Veneto what Xavier Vignon is the the southern Rhone but with one difference: in addition to advising scores of wineries in the
region, he owns some vineyards from which he produces a range of very polished wines including Valpolicella Superiore and Ripasso, Amarone
and white wines from Soave and Lugana on the shores of Lake Garda. Gambero Rosso is clearly a big fan of the wines, awarding a Tre Bicchieri in
every vintage, usually to the Ripasso or Soave.
