I am passionate about the horticultural industry, to offer quality service to my employer and clients. I
have both operational and administrative skills in all facets of horticulture. My passion and dedication
working with Kenya Horticultural Exporters has pushed me forward and helped me gain the
experience, skills set and talents to become a highly successful horticultural expert.

My career goal is to assume responsibility for the analysis and implementation of all organizational
goals and actively contribute to the overall success and growth of any organization I work for.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Kenya horticultural exporters (April 2021 to date)

Key responsibility
 Ensuring produce meets the customer speciation with correct temperatures
 Intake- supplies approval to ensure the company is fit to do supplies by use of Global Gap and
Risk assessment
 Holding and release procedure FIFO
 ensuring that the production process yields products that consistently satisfy the stated
customer quality attributes
 Ensuring that the documents/records in use are current, the correct version and completed in a
way that is unambiguous
 Reject all incoming product that fail to meet quality expectations and report the issue to the
concerned department at the earliest
 Resolving quality related issues adhering to deadlines
 Intake- supplies approval to ensure that the company is fit to do supplies by use of Global Gap
and Risk Assessment.
o -Intake Procedure – weighing > traceability > cold room.
o -Intake Quality Assessment-sampling of the produce.
o -Hold and Release Procedure-FIFO, Quarantine.
o -Cold room management.

Skills learned in the farm

 Farm machinery used during land preparation, stages of land preparation and the equipment
used, manual operations and their costs, and the efficiency of implements
 Scouting and the process of assessing pest pressure and crop performance to evaluate
economic risk from pest infestation and disease as well as determine the potential effectiveness
of pest and disease controls and interventions.
 The types of crops grown on the farm include vegetables, salads, and spices, the farm inputs,
and their costs, manual and machinery planting and their costs, and the labor or man-days
required.

 Activities and costs incurred in crop management, prediction of produce and harvesting, and
the costs incurred.
 The Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices in crop protection.
 Methods of grading, the marketing channels, labor costs, and value addition of the agricultural
produce
 Labor costing analysis, record keeping human resources, and accounting in the Administration
department.

 Temperature Control in the cold rooms, pack house floor, dispatch holding, blast chillers,
boxing room, and in the truck( thermal king).
