CLASS XII _- ENGLISH

Term II: Project Work (5) + Viva-Voce (5): 10 Marks


(Out of ten marks allotted for the term, 5 marks will be allotted for the project
report/script/essay etc. and 5 for the viva.)

Guidelines for the Project Work

The Project will be based on ONE topic. The Project can be inter-disciplinary in
theme. The ideas/issues highlighted in the chapters/ poems/ drama given
the prescribed books can also be developed in the form of a project.
Students can also take up any relevant and age-appropriate theme.

Interview-Based research:

 The project can be done in pairs/ groups (of 4)

 Students can choose a topic on which to do their


research/ interview, e.g. a student can choose the
topic: “Evolving food tastes in my neighbourhood” or
“Corona pandemic and the fallout on families.” Read
the available literature/material. 

 The students have to then conduct interviews with a


few neighbours/friends (4 people to be interviewed by
each group), on the selected topic. For the interview,
the students will frame 5 questions based on
the preliminary research/background. Each
interviewed person should be asked 5 questions

 The introduction, research ,interviews , survey reports,


graphical representation of data , conclusion etc can
be divided among members of the group.

 The essay should end with the student’s personal


reflection of the entire experience.

 The student will write the essay/ write up / report


etc. in about 800- 1000 words.

 Every student will have a Project Portfolio. The final


report cannot be exactly the same for all the members
in a group
 He / She will then take a viva on the research
project.

 The Project-Portfolio must include the following: Every student will


have a Project- Portfolio

I. Cover page, with title of project, school details/details of students.


II. Statement of purpose/objectives/goals.
III. Materials such as questionnaires for interview, written assignments,
essays, survey-reports and other material evidence of learning progress
and academic accomplishment
IV. The 800-1000 words Essay/Report.
V. Student/group reflections or feedback of the entire experience.
VI. If possible, Photographs that capture the positive learning experiences of
the student(s).
VII. List of resources/bibliography.

 The following points will be considered while assessing the project


portfolios:

● Quality of content of the project


● Accuracy of information
● Adherence to the specified timeline
● Content in respect of (spellings, grammar, punctuation)
● Clarity of thoughts and ideas
● Creativity
● Contributions by group members
● Knowledge and experience gained

 SUGGESTED TOPICS FOR PROJECT WORK: (students can use their


discretion to modify and rephrase the following as required or
choose a topic of their choice)

Steps to be followed
1. Form your group (pairs or groups of four)
2. Choose a topic for the interview based research. Discuss the same with
your teacher
3. Decide the subheadings- e.g Introduction , research analysis ,4
interviews, , survey reports, graphical representation of data, conclusion.
4. Divide the subheadings among the members of the group. Each member
should conduct an interview.
5. The group can begin by working on Google docs so that each member is
aware of the work done.
6. After the Google doc is completed & approved by the teacher the final
copy of the Project Portfolio can be compiled separately by each student .
(relections on the entire experience will be different for each member)
