Application areas
The compact submersible mixers of the RW series have
been designed for a wide range of applications. The
units can, for example, be used for many mixing and
stirring applications in sewage treatment plants and in
industrial and chemical processes.

The submersible mixers can be installed in all tank

shapes and sizes. Depending on the requested intensity
of mixing and flow formation, one or more mixers may
be installed in a single tank.

Installation

ABS submersible mixers are generally installed using a

universal guiding system which allows use of the unit at
different water depths in a tank.

Dead zones within a tank are therefore avoided.

Using the ABS guide tube system it is a simple matter
to raise or lower the mixer for maintenance purposes or
for repair even when the tank is flooded.

Selection
In order to ensure optimum selection we ask for the

The major advantage of horizontally operating submersible mixers in comparison to conventional mixers, is that they
allow the possibility to direct the flow in different directions. This allows better optimization of the flow pattern in the
tank. Depending on the location of the mixers we get different types of flow patterns which have different effects.

In order to ensure the best arrangement for an effective energy saving mixing operation in the various types of
tanks, the positioning hints in the sketches below should be carefully considered.

Rectangular Tanks
Rectangular tanks can be effectively mixed if the mixers are installed as shown in the illustration below. When using a
mixer the length/width relationship of the tank should not be greater than 5. Otherwise a number of mixers should be
installed. Optimum energy usage is achieved if the length/width ratio does not exceed 2.5.

RW 200 in pump stations

The RW 200 mixers are mainly used for mixing applications in pump sumps. The
function of the mixer is to thoroughly mix up the contents of the sump before the
pumps themselves start up, so that after completion of the pumping only a small
amount of deposit remains. Silting up of the pump sump is therefore effectively
avoided.

In addition this mixer can prevent the formation of floating crusts in pump
sumps.

In general the operation of the mixer in
