RMX - Kontrol49 Read Me
Using a hardware controller with Stylus RMX gives you maximum control
over your groove production. You can edit, re-mix, and manipulate RMX
grooves instantly in real time. It’s powerful, fun, and musically rewarding!
There are two main steps to perform in order to get started; loading the data
for the KONTROL49, and selecting the template in Stylus RMX.
The KONTROL49 has several illuminated displays that function as labels for
the main controls and scenes. Our templates take full advantage of those
features, allowing you to control all eight Stylus RMX parts simultaneously,
by changing scenes on the KONTROL49. You can switch in real-time from
mixing, filtering – even manipulating the Chaos Designer seamlessly for all
eight parts – and much more.
STEP 1 – SET UP THE KONTROL49
Make sure you have installed the hardware and software for the KONTROL49
according to KORG’s documentation.
Should I use the Scene Set file or the individual Scene files?
Select the Scene Set file RMX_K49 Scene Set.k4s if you wish to load all of
the Scenes for RMX into the KONTROL49 in one easy step.
Alternatively, you can customize your own Scene Set using the KONTROL49
Editor Librarian. This allows you to mix and match RMX scenes with those
you already have. We’ve provided individual Scene data for this purpose.
Consult KORG documentation for details on how to use the Editor Librarian to
create custom Scene Sets.
4. Click “Open”.
The Editor/Librarian now shows the following:
Make sure you have Stylus RMX version 1.5 or above installed.
From the Stylus RMX Utility menu (the button denoted with a Floppy icon),
select MIDI Learn / Load Template.
RMX PART.
Be sure that your host application is sending MIDI to RMX; then load grooves
into all eight parts.
Press the SW1 switch on the KONTROL49 – and RMX will “ALL Play”. Press it
again to stop playback.
The table at the end of this document shows how the KONTROL49 hardware
controls are mapped to Stylus RMX. Have fun exploring the amazing features
of Stylus RMX from your hardware controller!
When launching Logic Pro 7.1 with a KONTROL49 connected to the computer, Logic
will assume that the KONTROL49 is a native Control Surface. You can defeat this
behavior by deleting the KONTROL49 icon in Logic’s Control Surface Setup page (in
Preferences), or you can follow the steps below to permanently disable this
behavior.

CREATE AND SHARE YOUR OWN TEMPLATES
The templates we have provided are only the beginning of what you can do
with your hardware controller and Stylus RMX. We’ve provided a blank table
for you to document your own Controller Template creations. You will find it
in the User Template Tools folder, which is located inside the MIDI Learn
directory on your hard drive.
We encourage you to create your own templates, and then share them at the
Yahoo Spectrasonics User Group:
