High alumina ceramics are used to line equipment in power plants, steel plants, and cement plants to protect against abrasion and wear from coal, slag, and other materials.     HIGH ALUMINA CERAMICS

    1. WHAT IS ALUMINA CERAMIC?

    It is a ceramic product produced from high purity, fine grain aluminium oxide (Al 2O3)
    contents exceeding 90% Sintered dense Aluminium possesses a high consistency,
    hardness and resistance to corrosion, erosion,impingement and impact. It is harder
    than all other except diamond. High Alumina ceramic lined pipes, bends and tiles are
    customised to the client's requirement. The tile thickness can vary from 6 mm
    onwards.

    2. MANUFACTURING

    Fine grain Al2O3 i.e. high purity, alpha aluminium oxide, plus additives and binders
    are used as raw material and milled in ball mill. Ball Milling is done under controlled
    conditions to obtain correct particle size and viscosity. The Slip is spray dried by
    special spray drying technique to ensure thorough drying of grains.Pressing is done to
    ensure required compaction. High temperature sintering is done in controlled heating,
    soaking cooling cycles

    3. APPLICATIONS

    Power Plants

    In India the coal used in Thermal Power Plants is highly abrasive and contributes
    significantly to wear and erosion of plant and equipment. In particular, coal bends
    which convey Pulverised coal are highly vulnerable due to high velocity of coal
    particles and their severe impingement especially at the elbows. Protection of industrial
    components against abrasion, impact and impingement wear. Very specific use in the
    manufacturer of ceramic lined bends and pipes used in the transportation of Pulverised
    coat in power plants. Commonly used in multiple port outlet, PF nozzle, Mill discharge
    Valve, Dampers etc.

    Steel Plants

    For lining of material hoppers, slag granulation receiving bins, lining of concrete
    chutes handling granulated slag etc.

    Cements Plants

    For lining equipment in pneumatic conveying of fly ash and cement, dust cyclones,

    4. SHAPES & SIZES

    Standard tiles, square / rectangular, thickness 6 to 50 mm, with or without central


    holes, also with threaded bolt, Side lengths as per requirement.Curved tiles of
    thickness 20 to 25 mm, used in assembly of MS bends lined with ceramic tiles for PF
    application.Dimensions of tiles depended upon dimensions of bends.

    5. METHOD OF ATTACHMENT

    Laying / installation using different kinds of mortar. Laying/bonding with special


    two components epoxy, ceramic adhesive, screwing / bolting.

    Density 3.3 – 3.6 G/Cm3


    Compressive strength > 3200 Kg/Cm2
    Hardness > 8 Moh's Scale
    Alumina Content Aluminium Oxide Al2O3 85-90%
