EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Entrepreneurship education is a collection of formalized teachings that

informs, trains, and educates anyone interested in participating in socioeconomic

development through a project to promote entrepreneurship awareness,

business creation, or small business development. It is usually conceived more

broadly, seeking to foster self-esteem and confidence by drawing on the

individual’s talents and creativity, while building the relevant skills especially

entrepreneurial skills and values that will assist students in expanding their

perspectives on schooling and opportunities beyond.

The main objective of this research is to study the impact of inculcating

entrepreneurship education in schools in developing entrepreneurship skills of

students. 10 entrepreneurship students of Batangas State University were

interviewed and asked to answer the questionnaires.

Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that (1)

Entrepreneurship education allows the aspiring entrepreneur to boost the

economy of the country by making higher quality goods or more innovative

products that can draw potential buyers nationally and internationally.

Entrepreneurship education influences students' way of learning because it has

tremendous leverage to everything and can come up with creative innovative

ideas because of what globalization provides to us. (2) In terms of their mental

and physical aspects, cultural values and traditional mindsets influence the

educational outcome of entrepreneurship students. Therefore, students face

5

challenges and problems that obstruct their education from the values and

cultures that an individual brings on the path of his learning. (3) Proposed

learning systems for entrepreneurship education can educate and provide people

with seminars that can help them learn about entrepreneurship, provide some

training grounds for some aspiring entrepreneurs to develop a potential career as

an entrepreneur, and highlight technology topics in curricular/curriculum, and the

university creates students to engage in social entrepreneurs

CHAPTER 1

THE RESEARCH PROBLEM

INTRODUCTION

The word entrepreneurship is being used nowadays. It means a lot of

things for a lot of people. For some, it connotes being your boss, having your

own time, or achieving freedom from a restricted eight to five job. For others, it

means doing a side hustle, participating in the gig economy, taking risks, or being

independent. It may have a different meaning, but one thing is agreed upon it is

often connected to doing some form of business that seems to be a financial risk

undertaken to pursue a demand in a market. It means a lot of things for a lot of

people nowadays because entrepreneurship is more relevant today than it was

ages ago. Spurs of successful businesses in the new millennia, such as huge

tech-companies launched by infamous college dropouts, have inspired many to

pursue their path to success as opposed to doing the daily grind as an employee.

Recent developments in the regulation of some economies have also given vast

opportunities for many to try other economic activities not confined under the

term ‘employment’. Today, one does not even need much money to start a

business. A business begins through crowdfunding or start-up initiatives. It can

also develop through independent character lenders or investment by a venture

capitalist or angel investor. Nowadays, if you have meaningful goals you want to

7
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
introduce to the world and as long as you have the courage and patience to

pursue it, you can be an entrepreneur.

Entrepreneurship is the process of making progressive wealth and

innovating things of use that have a carriage on the welfare of a vital

entrepreneur. It magnifies the extension of social welfare and provides progress

with a large number of goods and services. Forming job occasion, innovation,

and enhance the economy is the importance of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs

are a proactive and very inspiring person who is ready to attain goals and the

individual beyond the entrepreneurship. Thus, they are the ones who can take

the economy, society, and the nation as the whole to the condition of progression

and success are entrepreneurs.

Entrepreneurial skills are the foundation for continued economic growth in

the future (Robinson, 2008; Pinto et al., 2019). It can cover a wide variety of

different skill sets, such as technical expertise, skills in leadership and business

management, and creative thinking. Since entrepreneurial skills can be applied to

several different job roles and sectors, it can require learning many types of skill

sets to improve your entrepreneurial skills. You can need to improve your

business management skills to be a successful business owner. You might need

to develop your leadership and communication skills to create and maintain

effective project teams. Entrepreneurship abilities also have advantages

irrespective of whether an entity sees their future as starting a company. They

can be used in the personal and professional lives of individuals because they

8
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
involve ingenuity, initiative, tenacity, coordination, risk awareness, and a sense of

duty.

Entrepreneurship education focuses on developing real-world skills that

will help students to lead uncommon lives in a rapidly changing world. It nurtures

innovative and creative talent, which is a significant incentive for future growth.

Innovation-driven growth strategies currently place new demands on education

for entrepreneurship. Most of the current research and debate in this area,

however, focuses on the construction of teaching staff in the environment of

entrepreneurial education, the creation of curricula, and whether

entrepreneurship education can affect entrepreneurship intentions. Through an

entrepreneurship education program, colleges and universities have recognized

the importance of entrepreneurship education and are seeking to encourage the

personal development of the students. Entrepreneurship education's fundamental

purpose is to apply for a job and to build a new profession. Entrepreneurship

education teaches students crucial life skills, such as: how to collaborate and

work with a team, how to speak in public and prepare for an effective

presentation, how to collect and analyze data, how to use social media as an

advocacy tool, how to solve real, complex problems that do not have a definitive

answer, and how to use curiosity and creativity to find an innovative approach to

difficult problems. Students learn to grasp the cycle of product growth, come up

with their innovative business ideas, and deliver many presentations on the pitch.

This approach leads to a superior college prep experience that supports our

9
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

students long after graduation from high school. Entrepreneurship education is

not only useful for science, technology, and business students but also for art,

music, and humanities students to grow their imagination and learn how to apply

innovative creativity. Students benefit from entrepreneurship education by

training them for an unpredictable future. Entrepreneurship-focused programs

teach critical life skills to students that will assist them in navigating this

unpredictable future. Such strengths include problem-solving, teamwork,

empathy, as well as learning as part of the development process to acknowledge

failure. Education for entrepreneurship facilitates creativity, innovation, teamwork,

and helps students to recognize issues they have never experienced before an

ability that will be very useful in the world of tomorrow.

Entrepreneurs are essential in establishing a well and successful

business. They play a role in the development of our economy. In economic

development, with the help of entrepreneurs, people of underdeveloped countries

to core and work hard for their success. Entrepreneurs start to analyze economic

growth is crucial. Therefore, they increase entrepreneurship both quantitatively

and qualitatively. It is most significant to have quantity over quality. However,

they are both essential for business success. The concept of entrepreneurship is

improved when considered as a contributor to society's economy. Through this, it

can contribute to wealth. Wealth is created by an individual who accepts the risk

to provide value to each service. One way you can gain a sense of what is

10
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

business is like investigating to analyze the most significant assistance that may

result in wealth.

Also, this study aims to determine the impact of entrepreneurship

education to the students’ entrepreneurial skills. It also aims to show and explain

that there is a significant relationship between entrepreneurship education and

entrepreneurial skills. Because this will focus on entrepreneurial skills, this study

intends to provide the factors that affect the students in terms of different skills.

This study will greatly contribute not only to the students and

entrepreneurs but also to the researchers.

Statement of the Problem

This research study aims to determine the impact of entrepreneurship

education in developing students’ entrepreneurial skills.

Specifically, it seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What is the impact of effectiveness of the inclusion of entrepreneurship

education in promoting in the country?

2. What difficulties encountered of the students while taking

entrepreneurship education?

3. What are the propose learning systems that would be valid to enhance the

entrepreneurship Education of students?

Hypothesis

Ho: There is no impact of inculcating entrepreneurship education in schools in

developing entrepreneurship skills of students.

11
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

Conceptual Framework

This study focuses on the impact of entrepreneurship education to the

student's entrepreneurial skills.

Entrepreneurship education emphasizes business ingenuity, innovation,

and risk acceptance, on the contrary, conventional opinions place more

emphasis on quantitative techniques than innovative skills development.

Communication, problem-solving skills, teamwork, self-management, and

preparation are other things that can be encouraged by entrepreneurship

education.

A sufficient and adequate plan would contribute to the issue of the

situation being answered. The researchers will formulate an effective method

using the diagram outlined below by both examining and providing a clear

strategy to shape the response to the questions.

Definition of Terms

Entrepreneurial education. It is defined as a whole education and

training activity (whether it is an educational system or a non-educational system)

that try to develop participants’ entrepreneurial intention or some factors that

affect the intention, such as knowledge, desirability, and feasibility of the

entrepreneurial activity (Liñan, 2004). In this study, the entrepreneurship

education is the design to know how it will greatly impact the student's

entrepreneurial skills and to relate its significant relationship to entrepreneurial

skills.

Entrepreneurial skills. It can encompass a broad range of various skill

sets like technical skills, leadership and business management skills and creative

thinking. Because entrepreneurial skills can be applied to many different job roles

and industries, developing your entrepreneurial skills can mean developing

several types of skill sets. (Alfreda, 2007) In this study, entrepreneurial skills are

the result of the effectiveness of entrepreneurship education to the students. It

measures the extent of how the students develop their skills when it comes to

learning entrepreneurship.

CHAPTER 2

METHODOLOGY

This chapter presents the description of the research process. It provides

information concerning the method that was used in undertaking this research.

The chapter also describes the various stages of the research, which includes

the selection of participants, the data collection process, and the process of data

analysis. The chapter also discusses the role of the researcher in qualitative

research in relation to reflexivity. The Qualitative research implies an emphasis

on the qualities of entities and on processes and meanings that are not

experimentally examined or measured [if measured at all] in terms of quantity,

amount, intensity, or frequency.

Research Design

In this study, the researchers used qualitative method approach as a

research method.

This research used qualitative research in gaining information. According

to Mason (2002), through Qualitative research it can explore a wide array of

dimensions of the social world, including the texture and weave of everyday life ,

the understandings, experiences and imaginings of the research participants, the

ways that social processes , institutions , discourses or relationships work, and

the significance of the meanings that they generate. In qualitative research it’s

has an unrivalled capacity to constitute compelling arguments about how things

16
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
work in particular contexts. Further, qualitative research is best illustrative, and it

also practiced in casual and systematic ways.

In this study, discourse analysis is used. Based on Nordquist, (2019) It's a

broad term for the study of the ways in which language is used between people,

both in written texts and spoken contexts. Whereas other areas of language

study might look at individual parts of language, such as words and phrases

(grammar) or the pieces that make up words (linguistics), discourse analysis

looks at a running conversation involving a speaker and listener (or a writer's text

and its reader).

Moreover, based on Education Reform (2015), action research refers to a

wide variety of evaluative, investigative, and analytical research methods

designed to diagnose problems or weaknesses—whether organizational,

academic, or instructional—and help educators develop practical solutions to

address them quickly and efficiently. Action research may also be applied to

programs or educational techniques that are not necessarily experiencing any

problems, but that educators simply want to learn more about and improve. The

general goal is to create a simple, practical, repeatable process of literative

learning, evaluation, and improvement that leads to increasingly better results for

schools, teachers, or programs.

Respondents of the Study

Cited in this section is the group of individuals who participated as the

respondents of the study and helped in the collection of much needed data.

The respondents of this study are the students of BS Entrepreneurship of

Batangas State University because they are the reliable sources of the study

since they are frequently studying entrepreneurship. There are 10 respondents

who undergo the interview process.

Data Gathering Instruments

The researchers gathered data through the interviews of students of BS

Entrepreneurship of Batangas State University. The interviews were guided by

the questionnaire, which was based on researcher’s published and unpublished

theses, all of which are important in creating the proposed enhancement

activities. The respondents of the study are limited to the entrepreneur students

of Batangas State University. Semi-structured questionnaires were utilized to

clarify information as well as to gain additional relative information. Aside from

gathering information from the respondents, the researchers also made use of

available books and related theses and surfed through the internet for related

articles and PDF, to support the study with secondary information. The data

gathered was then analyzed.

18
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers constructed a questionnaire which enabled them to

gather the necessary data for the study. This was checked by their research

adviser. When the interviewees are available online, they were introduced to the

study and then asked if they agreed to be interviewed. All the interviews took

place through online. The online interview aims to get the participants point of

view. After the interviews' permission was granted, all the interviews were

recorded, and the interviewees will receive a follow up questions that they

needed to answer briefly. After such, the interviews with the respondents

conducted, recorded, transcribed, and translated by the researchers.

For the physical, we always think, think and think knowing that our physical

Respondent 6

Respondent 6 says that because of the differences among cultural belief

29
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

need to work into. As for him, he copes up with these challenges by simply

creating his goal so that he will not be away by other things. According to him,

time management is also important to accomplish the task flawlessly.

education. She said that it is very important to step up recovery, improve our self-

esteem, and confidence to our stress or to be distress.

Respondent 8

He said, the cultural beliefs and traditional mindset affect the education

outcome of entrepreneurship students because from the believes and cultures

that a person have within his/her life that person can carry those believes and

cultures on the way of its learning. In addition, it can also serve as a struggle for

the student to catch up with the lessons if he/she was not been raised with that

kind of topic scenario in life or topic that is being discuss. Unless if it would be

given positive view, even though we have some differences the good connection

with each other remains and still becoming productive on different levels of

learning.

Graduate School
For him, mental and physical health are involved because it is important in

entrepreneurship education. It's important to take care of yourself and get the

why learn how to deal with stress.

Respondent 9

outcome of entrepreneurship students but in a good way in terms of having a

wide knowledge or having other basis in managing a business to be more

profitable and to have a successful business.

For him, the physical and mental health is one of the most influential

factors that affects the young entrepreneur specially the old entrepreneur like in

decision making and the condition of the body of one entrepreneur to do or to

conduct the task and responsibilities.

Respondent 10

For her, cultural beliefs and traditional mindset affects the education

outcome of entrepreneurship students. It affects in a way that it serves as a

reference in building a new idea and means of thinking and teaching

entrepreneurship program/education. With this, entrepreneurs have already

their backgrounds because of traditional mindset which will be used to

formulate and produce something innovative in the near future.

31
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
She also stated that regarding to mental and physical health, somehow

it is related or has a connection with the entrepreneurship program, yet this

education in schools in developing entrepreneurship skills of students.

Specifically, they sought answers to the following question:

1. What is the impact of effectiveness of the inclusion of entrepreneurship

education in promoting in the country?

2. What difficulties encountered of the students while taking

entrepreneurship education?

3. What are the propose learning systems that would be valid to enhance the

entrepreneurship Education of students?

The discourse analysis method was used to achieve the objectives of the

Findings

The researchers come up with the following findings after the analysis

and interpretation of the data gathered.

The following were the findings of the study:

1. Impact of effectiveness of the inclusion of entrepreneurship

education in promoting in the country.

Entrepreneurship education helps the future entrepreneur to improve

country's economy by creating a better quality of products or more innovative

products that can attract potential customers nationwide and globally.

Entrepreneurs develop new business and product that gives chance to other

people to have a proper job and a better life. Even in the future these

Entrepreneurs will continue support the economy's different country.

Entrepreneurship education helps the future entrepreneur because the aim is

to enhance the country's economic state. It helps the economy by providing job

opportunities. It was used to inspire young entrepreneurs for them to be able to

produce job opportunities. However, the inclusion of entrepreneurship

education in the Philippines reduces the struggles of an entrepreneur in the

work field by formulating and offering more interesting products to the market.

By the help of this, proper knowledge and skills can be learned. Also providing

them some advance information and knowledge about business opportunities

and preparing them to a broad perspective about their working field. And

somehow entrepreneurship education does affect the way of learning of the

36
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
students because it has a huge access in everything and can come up with

more ideas because of what globalization brings to us. Even though

entrepreneurship education in the Philippines is not that popular rather than

the other courses in business like accountancy, marketing, financial

management, etc. But since the country's economy is mostly run by

businesses, Philippines are taking it to another level by offering different

seminars and trainings from different organizations. Also, by valuing business

seminars, trainings and including entrepreneurship education as a program

that will enhance the skills and abilities of the students in handling business.

2. Difficulties encountered of the students while taking

entrepreneurship.

One of the difficulties that the students encountered while taking

entrepreneurship are the cultural beliefs and traditional mindset. It affects the

education outcome of entrepreneurship students because from the believes

and cultures that a person have within their life that person can carry those

believes and cultures on the way of its learning. In addition, it can also serve

as a struggle for the student to catch up with the lessons if he/she was not

been raised with that kind of topic scenario in life or topic that is being discuss.

Even though everyone has some differences, the good connection with each

other remains and still becoming productive on different levels of learning. And

having an ethics that will serve as the universal rule will let people work without

worrying their differences. On the other hand, mental and physical health are

37
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
involved in difficulties, but it will be coping by simply creating a goal or what we

call a 'time management' that is important to accomplish the task flawlessly.

3. Proposed learning systems that would be valid to enhance the

entrepreneurship Education of students.

The proposed learning systems should pay more attention to the said

education and give citizens seminar that could help them learn about

entrepreneurship. Also providing some training grounds for some aspiring

entrepreneurs in building the future career as an entrepreneur. Additionally,

emphasizing technology topics in curricular/curriculum and the university

creates for students to participate in social entrepreneur content. For that case,

the students improve their knowledge, skills, and learnings. And maybe a day-

to-day virtual check-up for students. This may not help people to push through

but each of us needs someone to talk to or someone we can share something

and probably can provide or give something whether it is an advice or support

and that is also important as a student. We are also focusing for the

improvement of students by taking care of their mental health.

Conclusions

Based on the results and findings gathered by the researchers, the

following conclusions were drawn:

1. Entrepreneurship education allows the aspiring entrepreneur to boost

the economy of the country by making higher quality goods or more

innovative products that can draw potential buyers nationally and

internationally. This helps the aspiring entrepreneur because the aim is

to boost the economic condition of the nation. Entrepreneurship

education influences students' way of learning because it has

tremendous leverage to everything and can come up with creative

innovative ideas because of what globalization provides to us. Since the

economy of the country is mainly handled by businesses by offering

numerous seminars and training from different organizations, the

Philippines is bringing it to another level.

2. In terms of their mental and physical aspects, cultural values and

traditional mindsets influence the educational outcome of

entrepreneurship students. Therefore, students face challenges and

problems that obstruct their education from the values and cultures that

an individual brings on the path of his learning.

3. Proposed learning systems for entrepreneurship education can educate

and provide people with seminars that can help them learn about

entrepreneurship, provide some training grounds for some aspiring

39
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY

entrepreneurs to develop a potential career as an entrepreneur, and

highlight technology topics in curricular/curriculum, and the university

creates students to engage in social entrepreneurs.

Recommendations

Recommendations were formed to improve the research study. The

following are the recommendations being offered by the researchers for the

significance of the study.

1. The school must not only focus on courses that are being take majorly by

a lot of students but also give equal valuing to every course that are

present especially same goes for entrepreneurship course because we all

know that entrepreneurs are the ones who also creates new job for the

people and when we say new job it means new course for that work field.

The school should also be generalize with the learning system or

education procedure for entrepreneurship education because in school

there are a lot of students with different cultures the school must disregard

this boundary safely because in-terms of entrepreneurship skills anyone

can have it and use it for the better.

2. The community must support the present and upcoming future

researchers because no matter how small that study that they will be

doing it because does small discoveries will truly help in the community’s

development special for the people living there. The community must give

value to entrepreneurship education and some of the skills of

40
BATANGAS STATE UNIVERSITY
Graduate School
entrepreneurs in the community for they are one of the keys to a

community’s success especially in-terms of innovation.

3. Entrepreneurship students should attend seminars and trainings about

being an entrepreneur. In prior to this, they could build their own

businesses and give people an opportunity to have a job. Attending to

seminars could also help them improve their skills on starting up a

business. They can be innovative in their products that could attract

potential customers. Proposed learning system is another way to help

future entrepreneurs to improve their skills on being an entrepreneur.

4. We recommend the future researchers to be more focus on the cultural

beliefs and traditional mindset. It is because this are the difficulties that

students encounter while taking up entrepreneurship. Focusing on the

curricular/curriculum could help students to improve their skills in building

a business. Mental and physical health is also considered, this is another

difficulty that students encounter while taking up entrepreneurship

education. It could help students improve their mental health and improve

their time management in achieving their goals on being an entrepreneur.
