L2 Géographie

In a group of two, you’re going to make a presentation to your local council urging them to
adapt urban agriculture (vertical and/or rooftop farms for example) and local townscaping
projects like Incredible Edible. You want to see change for the better in your town/city.

Dear mayor, dear elected ones,


You must know that we live on the edge of a new era. Our lives are currently threatened by
climate change and we ought to act ! Indeed, even though Earth will still exist after this huge
crisis, our lives are in jeopardy.
That’s because all actions have their consequences that we can reverse this reality. All
actions, no matter how small they are, can have a great positive impact.
We, Paul and Matteo, will offer you some proposals to make Avignon a resilient and a better
living place.
Our project is to bring back nature amenities to a grey and gloom part of the city : the
Avignon’s ringroad. Indeed, the ringroad is just known to be a travelling place where nobody
want to live around. However, we want to change this point of view by making this grey
place green again.
[What can be seen as a disadvantage to everyone is a real opportunity to us. Indeed, the
ringroad pass through an urbanized part of Avignon and present some large unused zone
around it. ]
So, we want to use these geometrical places where there’s nothing to build an edible park
and bring some amenities.
Can you see this great triangle place for example ? We want to transform it together.
To build this little « realistic utopia » you will need [SCHEMA]:
- A pond in its center with dragonflies, fishes and lilypads to create a real ecosystem.
- Some local trees to withstand summer heat such as olive, apricot or fig trees organized as
the nature do : randomly.
- A vegetalized roof made of vines wher Strawberries and raspberries could grow just under
it.
- A water source. Luckily, we have the Vaucluse’s channel passing just at the north. We could
buried some pipes to bring water to our place.
- Finally, an access for people ! We will creat a bicycle path linking the eastern part to the
kids park just at the north. The path will pass just under the ringroad.
Everyone could
A thing that have astonished us is that we everyday walk upon one of the most productive
land in France. Why do we don’t use this advantage to improve our city ? That’s why we
propose you to develop a crowdfunded app in which users such as professionals or normal
folks could know where to find an organic and ethical product near from them. It will
contribute to avoid spoiling and offer a cheaper or a free food.

- Build an ecological park in the vicinity of the ringroad. (Schéma)


- Communities garden with ecologic stocking room
- Law avoiding spoil of edibles by producers or retailers to give these products to local
association such as the « Resto du Cœur » or the « Secours Populaire ».
- We walk everyday upon one of the most productive land in France. Why do we don’t
use this advantage to improve our city ? We propose you to develop a crowdfunded
app in which users such as professionals or normal folks could know where to find an
organic and ethical product near from them. It will contribute to avoid spoiling and
offer a cheaper or a free food.
