Name: ________________________________________ Date: __________________________ Section: ____ Score: _________%

Direction: Answer All Questions Below.

1. A pair of forces are given as: 220 N, east and 160 N, west. a). What is the resultant force?
b). What is the direction of the resultant force?

2. Two forces, perpendicular to each other, are given as 12 N north and 25 N west.
a). What is the resultant of the forces?
b). What is the angle the resultant makes with the horizontal?

3. A bus travelled 85 km east and then 45 km north. a). What is the total distance the bus travelled to reach
its destination? b). What would have been the displacement of the bus if it would have taken a straight
path? c). What is the direction of the displacement?

4. A truck drives up a hill with a 15incline. If the truck has a constant speed of 22 m/s, what are the
horizontal and vertical components of the truck’s velocity?

5. Two forces of magnitudes 30 n and 40 N at an angle of 450. a). What is the resultant force? b). What is
the direction of the resultant force?

6. Two forces 4N, north east and 5N, east act on a body. If the angle between the forces is 30°, calculate:
a). the magnitude of the resultant on the body b). the direction of the resultant

7. A hummingbird, 3.4 m above the ground, flies 1.2 m along a straight path. Upon spotting a flower below, the
hummingbird drops directly downward 1.4 m to hover in front of the flower. What is the hummingbird’s
total displacement?

8. A body is acted on by three forces: F1 = 16 N @ 200 , F2 = 50 N @ 2500 and F3 = 28 N @ 1500

a). Calculate the resultant force b). Calculate the direction of the resultant force

9. A particle A moves with velocity 30m/s towards East, another particle B moves towards East with velocity
of 50m/s and a third particle C moves to the west with the velocity of 40m/s.
i. Find the velocity of particle A relative to the particle B.
ii. Find the relative velocity of A with respect to C.

10. A boy swims at 6 m/s across a river in which the water is flowing at 4 m/s. If the direction of his
swimming is at right angle to the bank of the river, a). What will be his actual speed? b). If the
width of the water is 60m wide, then how much time does it take for him to reach the a point exactly
opposite to his starting point?
