There are many ways to speak of the past in English, but the
simple past is the most common form.
We use the simple past to talk about an action. it started and
ended in the past at a time.

It is also said to be talking about an event that began and ended
in the past. (This action is no longer happening in the present.)

Regular verbs always end in ED
To form the simple past with regular verbs, we add the ending
"ed" to the verb
example:
want → wanted
learn → learned
stay → stayed
walk → walked
show → showed
