STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The dire need for analytics in business growth and development across the world is alarmingly
increasing. With new technologies emerging in the market, the IT sector is using humongous
amounts of data on a daily basis for predicting market trends and strategic analysis. At the very
beginning of my professional career, working in healthcare for 3 years at Deloitte played a key
role in generating my interest towards data analytics. From understanding the US healthcare
system to studying the horizons of databases of Epic, an Electronic Medical Record (EMR),
has made me dive deeper into the concept of analytics. Carrying the curiosity along, I was able
to explore furthermore, by acquiring an understanding of the database management system of
the application, building dashboards and reports that helped hospitals obtain patient information
which was utilized for various purposes such as improving employee productivity, patient
readmission trends, insights on number of patients admitted in their hospitals and much more.

Completing undergraduate in ‘Information Technology’ paved the way to several opportunities

to indulge myself into upcoming technological advancements. Introduction to programming
languages such as C, Java, Linux, SQL fostered my logical thinking in writing algorithms and
developing the skill of coding in various programming languages. In the second year of
engineering, I was intrigued when I came across the concepts of database management
systems, data mining and warehousing which layed a great foundation in my interest towards
analytics. Through my journey in creating new ways to develop my communication skills, I was
well known to be a part of major college clubs. From organizing and facilitating fests in college,
to playing a key role in driving the cultural club “ALACRITY” as a Vice president, I was
enlightened about the different enigmas of being a leader. As one of my favorite lecturers once
said: ‘Fake it, till you make it!’ I strongly followed this motto to overcome many hurdles I came
across while working towards developing my communication and public speaking skills. It was
not only a personal achievement but also helped me land a job at Deloitte in the final year of my
undergrad.

Within a month of joining the company, I was sent to the US on a certification programme, to
study how Epic application is designed to cater to hospital inpatient workflows. This was my first
project as a business analyst and my key responsibilities were majorly handling requests from
doctors, nurses and other users to mould the application in such a way that it leads to increase
in patient care and safety. Being an IT engineer, it was a challenging task to understand how the
healthcare system is structured but it opened a gateway to new learning experiences. I worked
on implementation of Epic application to a new chain of hospitals as my second project.
Since this was new, I got a chance to work closely with the client to build everything from
scratch and configure the application to adhere to hospital compliance policies. One of the tasks
involved analyzing 10,000 LOINC Codes and building a tool which resulted in identifying
suitable codesl to the laboratories. I received great appreciation from leadership for completing
the task in the stipulated timeline and delivering with utmost quality.
While working on my third project, I completed another certification which involved a thorough
analysis of the application’s database management system. The courses I completed in my
undergrad were helpful in understanding Databases easily, but my workplace was where I
developed real time application skills and acquired better exposure. I attained hands-on
experience in building reports for different databases using SQL. I was astonished by the way
data could be played around to construct productivity dashboards, defining metrics for
comparing the market trends across organisations and the utility is endless. As a result of my
work around multiple modules of the application in conjunction with team building and
leadership skills, I received an appraisal and was promoted as a Consultant in May 2021. This
project improved my skill and knowledge about analytics, which corroborated my desire to do a
Master's degree in Business Analytics.

If I ever must give credit to one aspect of my life that was not only life-changing but also an
extraordinary experience, it was to play an integral part in an Non-Governmental Organization
called STREET CAUSE. I started off as a volunteer for the ‘Old Age home and Orphanages’
department of my college, with a team of 10. The need to go up the ladder, led me to enroll in
another wing of this NGO: Hyderabad Youth Assembly where I was elected as a ‘Vice Chair’.
One of the tasks I ushered, involved a team of 30 and it was to revamp an entire Government
school in a village. Following this influential project, I was chosen to be the Executive Board
Member of the NGO as the Fundraising Portfolio Head, for the following year. With my team, I
successfully executed one of the biggest Basketball tournaments (200+ teams) in the city and
a Marathon (20,000+ attendees), raising an amount up to INR 13 lakhs and INR 40 lakhs
respectively. With the funds raised through these events, I was responsible for setting up solar
street lights in a remote village. After which I received a Distinguished services Award and
was also promoted as Vice-President. Working in this NGO was cathartic, but engaging in
managing an organisation, developing marketing strategies, and implementing large-scale
projects were the key takeaways from this role.
