The month-long celebration was actively participated by school learners,
Participants' under the care of their parents/guardians, involving Kindergarten, Grades 1
Description to 6 & special children with assiduous supervision & guidance of Master
Teachers, Class Advisers, Academic Teachers, School Personnel & the
School Principal, Viola S. Esparagoza.
Activity In-charge School English Reading Coordinator
In support of the quality, relevant and liberating Basic Education and to
strengthen the learning foundation of all school children in the elementary
level through the institutionalization of "Every Child A Reader Program
(ECARP)" under the National Reading Month's theme "Magbasa't Umunlad",
the DCSS learners actively involved in virtual activities such as the
Nationwide Synchronized Reading at home of various stories, poems and
articles in any print medium; also actively engaged in story-telling &
Short Description book characterization challenge with contestants from other schools in
of the Event Talomo District, as well as, the active participation of DCSS School Principal,
Master Teachers, Class Advisers, Academic Teachers & School Personnel in
Davao City Division First Virtual Reading Summit on Dec. 2, 2020 per DepEd
Div.Memo #1374 s.2020, preceeded by the Talomo District National Reading
Month Virtual Culmination last November 30, 2020. Subsequently, the
said month-long virtual activities served as a fitting response to DepEd's
"Bawat Bata Bumabasa" challenge, in line with the DepEd Memo No. 244
s. 2011, as supported by unnumbered DepEd Regional Memo dated Nov.
10, 2020 & DepEd Div. Memo No. 1331 s. 2020 dated November 19, 2020
To promote reading and literacy among the elemenary school learners,
even under strict observance of LGU guidelines & IATF health protocols,
thereby ensuring the continuity of learners' interest in reading & further
Objectives of progress in comprehension skills; to make reading a shared experience
the Event among the young minds, thus, increasing its relevance amidst the growing
influence of internet & other on-line activities; and to motivate them to
learn from prominent Filipinos' lives and enable them to uphold one's
own heritage and values
The School English Reading Coordinator led Master Teachers, Class Advisers,
Academic Teachers and School Personnel in enjoining all learners to
Preliminaries synchronically read stories, poems & articles at home together with their
parents/guardians during the Nationwide Synchronized Reading Time; train
contestants to vie in the book characterization & story-telling challenge,
and likewise, join actively in both Talomo District National Reading Month
Virtual Culmination & Davao City Division First Virtual Reading Summit
The series of home/virtual activities highlighted the success of month-long
celebration of the National Reading Month with the active collaboration
Results of both school learners, their parents/guardians & DCSS School Principal,
