HISTORY LENS. Choose between the two videos to watch and read about relevant articles
particularly “Misconceptions on Philippine History” and try to answer the following question:

1. Why are there misconceptions in history?


- There are misconceptions with the history because over time the information and facts
about history have been exaggerated, distorted or just made up.  People putted their very
own opinion or anything that they wanted to people know. It’s a very usual to some people
to this kind of work without knowing what are the reality.

2. What could be the reason/s for these misconceptions?


- One of the reasons of these misconceptions is those Speculations that’ve made through the
years because this sort can make sense in literary interpretation because literature
sometimes reflects and comments upon the circumstances of contemporary life.
- Evidences. Historical explanation is informed by evidence which considerate and give claims
with the facts about history.
- Evolutions of People’s thinking
- Availability of resources

3. How can we rectify or change these misconceptions?


- Those misconceptions are can be change through doing a proper research which will lead to
the facts.
- Avoid spreading those misconceptions, instead of ignoring we should correct them with the
truth about the information.
- Ask information to those who are profession in that specific field.

4. Identify at least three (3) Philippine history misconceptions and try to rectify them.
 THE KATIPUNAN AND ITS LEADER ANDRES BONIFACIO WAS FROM LOWER CLASS –
Andres Bonifacio was not came from lower class. During in his time, their situation is
considered as living in the middle class. He’s living in Tondo in that time, and Tondo
nowadays is never the same in colonial times. Aside from this, other Katipunero’s
most of them are scribes, secretaries and office workers. (Basagan ng trip with

 THE PHILIPPINES WAS RICH WHEN THE PERO DOLLAR EXHANGE RATE WAS 2:1-
Due to this mindset, the Filipinos are being import-dependent. Export industry
never been developed during that time because Filipinos became on reliant on
foreign goods. That’s why the economy was slowing down. ( Basagan ng trip with

 RIZAL IS IBARRA – It was telling in the book of Noli Me tangere, that rizal makes
often fool of Ibarra. Rizal never been played himself as Ibarra since there is no borne
out evidence that can prove that.
