SCENARIO 1 -Task 1
Bata (also known as Bata Shoe Organization) founded on 24th of August 1894 in Zin (today the Czech Republic), is a family-
owned global footwear and fashion accessory manufacturer and retailer with acting headquarters located in Lausanne,
Switzerland. Organized into three business units: Bata Europe, based in Italy; Bata emerging market (Asia, Pacific, Africa and Latin
America),based in Singapore, and Bata protective (worldwideB2B operations),based in Netherlands, the organization has a retail
presence of over 5200 retail stores in more than 70 countries and production facilities in 18 countries. It was incorporated in
Pakistan as Bata Shoe Company (Pakistan) Limited in 1951 and went public to become Bata Pakistan Limited in the year 1979.

As a newly appointed Human Resource Manager for Bata you have been asked with leading on the restructuring of the
department as part of organizational change. The Human Resources (HR) department will be restructured based on the findings
of a review report, which you have been asked to complete. You are to review the internal and external factors for effective
planning of human resource requirements of this organization and understanding the importance of managing employee
performance at work while pointing out the key skills required for employees to efficiently carry out their roles. The review will
also include possible ways to motivate employees for optimal productivity. The report will also emphasize on how to gain
maximum committed employee cooperation. This has to be submitted as a case study report.

SCENARIO 2 – Task 2
DBL Group started its business in 1991 with a small garments factory named Dulal Brother Limited. It is now grown into a
respected and trusted name in Bangladesh for our manufacturing operations with an ever contributing workforce of about
15,700.Currently it has facilities for spinning, fabric knitting, dyeing and finishing, garments, washing, packaging and printing. The
Company supplying quality apparels across the world to the best of the retailers.
The company embarked on a growth plan that is expected to truly transform the organization. In the next two years our home
textiles, pharmaceuticals, and leather industry will be in operation. Vision 2020 aims to sustain the confidence which has been
endowed on us by the society and grow further as a distinctive DBL Group for its customers, employees, associates and
stakeholders.
DBL projected turnover would be USD 550 Million and we will employ over 37,000 people by year 2016. DBL Group is committed
to conduct their business in such a way that demonstrates highest ethical standards. They believe integrity is our imperative
utility to succeed in what they do.
The main objective of this study is to understand the process of recruitment and selection of DBL Group and its impact. To
achieve the main objective this you are required to highlight some specific objectives that can be the following manner:

P3/4) Some reward systems emphasize payment by results and are influenced more by ideas of scientific
management and Taylorism. Other reward systems emphasize the personal and social nature of motivation and draw
on ideas from Maslow and Herzberg.
You are required to show how the ideas of writers on motivation have shaped the way Bata motivates their
employees in the form of a case study assessment report. The case study assessment report should cover the
following:
 Identify How Bata can motivate its employees referring to monetary and non-monetary aspects
 Compare the use of motivation theories used by Bata.
You must compare how different theories of motivation contribute to the techniques used for employee motivation in
Bata.
How does Bata or a similar business motivate its employees and assess these ways that Bata uses to motivate its
employees and improve business performance. Suggest, with justification, ways to further improve motivation
amongst employees at Bata. You must reach justified conclusions about how Bata might modify and develop the
motivational techniques and associated reward systems it uses.
Explain the link between motivation of Bata’s employees and Bata’s performance. Evaluate this co relation between
effective strategies that Bata implements for motivation and its impact on Bata’s performance.

Prepare a report and present to appropriate audience with an overview of organizations detailing the following information:

DBL. You should focus on the key legal and ethical requirements of selection interviews and how DBL adheres to recruitment
processes that are ethical and comply with current employment law.
Analyze the importance to DBL’s performance of different recruitment and selection methods and processes that DBL’s management
uses.
