Education is an important system in society that should absolutely be accessible to anyone and

everyone. It is what gives us knowledge in order to accomplish and do things that we have not done
before. It is what makes us comprehend and formulate ideas that have not appeared to us before. It is
the basis of society in which companies and organizations use to select people that are appropriate for
the job that they are offering.

We were tasked to interview some of our previous teachers in order to answer a question that has been
given to us which reads: “Given the basic problems of the Philippine educational system, such as
shortages of classrooms, teachers, textbooks, and facilities, and the low salary of teachers, and
problems brought upon by the pandemic, what concrete solutions can you suggest?”. We have
interviewed six of our teachers to answer the question and here are the responses:

1. The 1st teacher said, “Dapat magvote wisely tayo this coming election. Para maging competent naman
ang gobyerno natin at tumaas yung quality ng education.”

3. The 3rd teacher said, “The government should prioritize budget for education rather than other
unnecessary aspects since education is important in today’s society.”

4. The 4th teacher said, “Yung K-12 curriculum dapat ipadevelop yan. Students and even teachers are
being drained by the excessive amounts of work to be done.”

5. The 5th teacher said, “They really should increase the salaries of teachers kasi karamihan ng mga

6. The 6th teacher said, “Get the vaccine immediately in order to lower the Covid levels here in the
mahirap kaysa sa face to face.
All of the answers that we have gotten are really solid suggestions as to how education can improve
here in the Philippines. The suggestions include the increasing of salary, advancements to the
curriculum, prioritization of education, voting wisely in the upcoming election, getting the vaccine and
many more ideas. These suggestions truly will help better the situation of the Philippine education
system and help kickstart the country’s economy, literacy and other aspects.

We also have noticed that some teachers are also keen on having face to face classes instead of online
ones. The widespread mandatory implementation of online classes is a problem brought upon by the
pandemic, wherein students and teachers are not allowed to meet in a physical classroom due to risk of
infection of the Covid 19 virus. It is true that this has solved the temporary problem of education, but it
has almost been 2 years since the lockdown has been put into place. The sixth teacher is stating that it
really drains him that he can no longer see the physical selves of his students. We human beings are
social animals, and I truly agree with the answer of the sixth teacher. All of these problems have
solutions, but it is not clear when they are going to be fixed. For now, all we can do is try and not be a
part of the problems and instead, try in giving ways and suggestions on how to better mend the said
problems.
