Sub: PCE Circular No.71 - Consolidated List of Similar Nature of Works

The list of similar nature of work was initially circulated vide CE Circular No.58
dated:14.07.2008. Further, by incorporating all similar nature of works issued, a
consolidated list of similar nature of works was issued vide Letter No.W/118/0/2(SNW)
Vol.I (W6) dated:29.07.2017. Subsequently various similar nature of works have also
been issued as per request of divisions. It has been decided to issue fresh consolidated
list of similar nature of works for adoption in field units.

Principal Chief Engineer has approved “PCE Circular No.71 - Consolidated List of
Similar Nature of Works” which is enclosed for adoption in field. Please note that this PCE
Circular will supersede all previously approved similar nature of works. The similar nature
of works being circulated now shall be adopted for all future tenders.

It may please be noted that the list defines only the similar nature of work. Extant
instructions/policy guidelines on technical and other aspect issued by Railway
Board/RDSO/HQ etc. shall be referred to while framing the tender documents. It may also
be noted that the P-Way/Track works shall not be considered as Civil Engineering works.

For the work not covered under this list, the similar nature of work shall be got
approved by PCE in accordance with Railway Board’s letter No.94/CE-I/CT/4 dated:
23.11.2006.
