1.What is Mathematics?
For me, posing theories, developing experiments and controls, analyzing data,
identifying patterns, finding facts, conclusions and proof, solving problems, and seeking
absolutes are all skills that a strong foundation in mathematics and science develops and hones
while remaining open to new knowledge. Education in mathematics can create not only more
engineers and scientists, but also more people who can study and think critically and creatively,
regardless of their career fields. It will be required of tomorrow's workforce in all fields.
3.What new ideas about Mathematics did you learn from the video and/or from the
article?
I love the question that the videos and article that left me, which is “Is Mathematics
already built in in the universe even before we discovered the concept?”. The truth is no one
really knows, it is a mystery that was given to us by the world’s greatest mathematicians, and I
think this mystery has a high probability of not being answered. Simply put, they tell us that
Mathematics is indeed everywhere.
Going back to my answer in question number 3, I said that math is everywhere. I love
patterns and sequences, and how you can almost always see them around you. I dislike the
subject of mathematics, but the videos and the article simply reminded me that mathematics
define these patterns and sequences quite well and build upon it to create interesting ideas,
case in point, the concept of Pi. Pi is always brought up when talking about patterns and
sequences, and how it is said to explain many things that is happening around us. Another
example is the Fibonacci sequence, which is weirdly all around us, including nature. Is math
really a pillar of the universe? We might not even know.
