Service Booklet, HMF Loader Cranes

Preface

Dear customer,
As the owner of an HMF crane you have acquired a product which both you and your employees will
benefit from for many years. We would like to point out that it is important to observe the instructions
mentioned in this Service Booklet and the Instruction Manual that came with the crane. This is how to make
sure you take full advantage of the performance of the crane and obtain maximum safety when using it.

In General

HMF co-operates with a large network of HMF partners that have skilled workshop staff and that are using
modern tools, workshop equipment as well as HMF's specially developed electronic service terminal and
PC software.
All HMF partners work according to guidelines elaborated and tested by HMF's factory. These include the
necessary service instructions, which ensure that the required servicing is carried out at the right time. This
will ensure the value of the crane as well as its performance and operational safety.

As a condition for using the right of complaints during the entire ordinary and extended guarantee period in
relation to HMF’s guarantee system, we draw your attention to the following points:
- At an authorized HMF service point a pre-delivery inspection, a 3-month inspection and the first three
annual service overhauls and safety inspections must be carried out according to HMF's check list
"Report, Service Overhauls and Safety Inspections". This must be confirmed by means of company
stamp, date and signature in the Service Booklet.
- When replacing filter cartridges in high-pressure filters, return filters and air filters at all of the above-
mentioned service overhauls, only use original HMF filters.
- At the delivery of the crane as well as the following service overhauls and safety inspections, only use
hydraulic oil and lubricating grease in accordance with HMF's quality regulations and specifications.

The observance of the above-mentioned guidelines must be documented when filling in and signing the
relevant tables in this Service Booklet, and a copy of them must be sent to the HMF importer.

With regards to the best possible personnel and operational safety when using the crane, we recommend
that you continue the service overhauls and safety inspections with the authorized HMF service point, also
after expiry of the guarantee period.

The importance of the Service Booklet

In the Service Booklet is stated the confirmed date of delivery of the crane to the customer and thereby the
starting date for the guarantee period covering the crane.
From the Service Booklet it appears when the crane is due for service overhauls and safety inspections, as
well as which work is going to be carried out. The Service Booklet contains the necessary and signed
documentation for the service overhauls and safety inspections carried out.
The Service Booklet should be kept inside the vehicle so that it is available at any visit to a service point.
Should the crane be sold, please pass on the Service Booklet to the new owner.

Pre-delivery inspection

Before delivery of the vehicle and crane, a pre-delivery inspection has been carried out according to the
guidelines of the factory that comply with the regulations in the EN 12999 concerning functional test, load
test, stability test and noise emission test.

Rev.: 06-14 HMF Technical Service Department
Service Booklet, HMF Loader Cranes

Service overhauls and safety inspections

Apart from the pre-delivery inspection, which is carried out before delivering the crane, there has to be
carried out:
- 3-month inspection
- Annual service overhauls and safety inspections

Please note: In certain countries the annual service overhauls are statutory, and the necessary
documentation related to these must be inserted in the crane journal.

Service intervals

Three-month inspection:
Must be carried out 3 months after the date of delivery of the crane to the customer or after 200 hours of
service - whatever occurs first.

Annual service overhauls and safety inspections:

Must be carried out 12 months after the date of delivery of the crane to the customer and then for every 12
months.

The time for the next service overhaul is stated in the check fields in the present Service Booklet. The
above stated intervals for service overhauls and safety inspections apply for normal working conditions and
are only indicative.

The service intervals are based on normal use of a truck-mounted crane, i.e. loading and unloading of the
body of the truck as well as a one-shift operation of max. 8 hours per day in a 5-day week.
A running time of 1000 hours per year is regarded as being average for the crane.

In case of difficult working conditions, more frequent service overhauls are required than the service
intervals stated. This is agreed upon with the works manager at the HMF partner.

Upon requirement, the service point can activate an indication function so that the controller of the
operating system indicates at each start-up, when it is time for service.

overloading, unsuitable lubricants, oils and oil filters, mounting on an unsuitable vehicle, accident, poor
maintenance or external influences.

Guarantee work is only to be carried out in an authorized HMF service point, and only original HMF spare
parts may be used. The use of unoriginal parts will cause any guarantee claim to be rejected.

HMF does not assume any guarantee liabilities in connection with the mounting of the crane, changes or
modifications to the crane structure made after delivery.

The guarantee does not include hydraulic oil, grease, fuel and filter cartridges etc. Furthermore, all wearing
parts such as hydraulic hoses and slide blocks are excluded from the guarantee unless there are material
defects or mounting errors.
Additional costs such as environmental fee, workshop materials etc. are not compensated.

HMF rejects any claim for damages concerning corrosion damage which was caused by rough cleaning
using high-pressure rinsing or contact with aggressive media such as salt or cement, or in case of marine
use inappropriate for the crane. This also goes for corrosion damage on the crane, if the vehicle is used for
winter services using dry or wet salt.

Corrosion damage on cylinder piston rods which have not had their surface protected regularly with
protective oil, are not compensated.

Claims for damages based on any kind of consequential costs such as standstill of crane and vehicle, lost
earnings, transport, rent of a replacement crane and others as well as possible damage or accidents
caused by the HMF product are not recognised.
Transport charges, travelling expenses and accommodation expenses as well as possible overtime-
payment in connection with guarantee work are not compensated by HMF.

If the sealing of the hydraulic valves is defective or if the seals do not have identification codes approved by
HMF, guarantee claims will be rejected. The sealing of the hydraulic valves is only to be removed and
renewed by authorized HMF service points.
