Android 8+ App Install & Update Instructions


The below instructions detail the process for:

• Installing the Android App


• Updating the Android App

Note: We recommend using Android version 8.0+ to ensure your devices are running their
best.

Installing the Android App [back to top]

Attention: Some devices use a third-party file explorer/launcher app which may change the
below install process.

If you are installing the app for the first time, please follow the below work instructions before
using the app.

Attention: Unfortunately, not all mobile carriers, and some devices, support the ability to
install third-party apps using the below instructions.

Please also be sure to refer to the ‘Mobile Recommendations’ section in our Minimum &
Recommended Technical Requirements article within your platform’s Help tool, to ensure your
device is compatible.

Android 8.x+

steps below:

1. Open the native browser on your device (in this example, we'll be using the Chrome
browser)

2. In the address bar, enter the URL of your platform, then tap the enter button

3. At the top of the screen, you will see the name of your app. Tap on 'Download'

4. In the download prompt, tap on “OK”

5. Once the download has finished, please do one of the following:

Method #2: Open with File Explorer


Method #1: Open with Browser
(only if Method #1 does not work)
a) Tap on “Open” a) Open the app drawer

b) Find + select your preferred file

using the “My Files” app)
b) In the security prompt, tap on
“Settings”
Note: This prompt will only appear if
you do not have the “Install unknown
apps → Allow from this source” option
enabled in your preferred browser c) Navigate to the “Downloads” folder

c) Set the “Allow from this source”


option to the on position, then tap on
the ‘back’ (arrow) icon
d) Find + select the platform app (.APK)
file you just downloaded
Note: This will include the name of
your platform, followed by .apk – e.g.
support.apk

e) In the security prompt, tap on


“Settings”
d) Proceed to Step 6 (below) Note: This prompt will only appear if
you do not have the “Install unknown
apps → Allow from this source” option
enabled in your preferred file explorer

f) Set the “Allow from this source”


option to the on position, then tap on
the ‘back’ (arrow) icon

g) Proceed to Step 6 (below)

6. Tap on “Install”

7. Once the install has completed, tap on “Open”

Updating the Android App [back to top]

Attention: Some devices use a third-party file explorer/launcher app which may change the
below update process.

Each time a user opens their Android App it connects to the server and checks to see if there is
a newer version of the available. If there is, the user will be shown a popup dialogue asking
them to update the app, as pictured below:

Android 8.x+
1. Tap on “UPDATE NOW”
Note: This will open your default browser, to download the latest app file

2. In the download prompt, tap on “OK”

3. Once the download has finished, please do one of the following:
