M. Valerio Assignment 6.1

Rina needs a minimum amount of protein, carbohydrates, and fat each month. She can obtain these nutrients from Food A and Food B. The problem aims to determine the minimum kilograms of each food Rina should buy to meet her needs at lowest cost. Linear programming is applied, with the objective function being to minimize total cost and constraints being the minimum nutrient requirements from both foods. By setting up and solving the linear program, the optimal amounts of Food A and Food B are determined to be 24kg and 16kg respectively.

Directions: Apply linear programming in solving the problem.

Rina needs at least 48 units of protein, 60 units of carbohydrates, and 50 units of fat each month. From each kilogram of food, A, she receives 2 units of protein, 4 units of
carbohydrates, and 5 units of fats. Food b contains 3 units of protein, 3 units of carbohydrates, and 2 units of fats. If food A costs Php110 per kilogram and food B costs Php
90 per kilogram. How many kilograms of each food should Sofia buy each month to keep costs at a minimum?
