The document is a lesson plan for teaching theorems related to chords, arcs, and central angles of a circle to 10th grade mathematics students. It includes 4 activities to engage students and allow them to practice identifying circle parts, analyzing figures, and proving theorems. It also includes a quiz for students to demonstrate proving that line segments and arcs are congruent given information about central angles or congruent circles. The lesson aims to help students prove theorems related to circles with at least 80% proficiency.

A SEMI- DETAILED 4A’S LESSON PLAN

IN MATHEMATICS 10

Leahmil S. Uy Mr. Ronald M. Cajefe

Student Teacher Cooperating Teacher Educator

I. Objectives:
Given a several activities, the Grade 10 students are able to prove theorems
related to chords, arcs, central angles of a circle with at least 80% proficiency.

II. Content
CIRCLES
III. Learning Resources
Math Curriculum Guide (M10GE-IIc-d-1)
Callanta et al, Learner’s module (2015) pages 140-148

Materials: flash cards, coloured chalk, coloured paper, visual aid (figures for
activity 2, 3, and 4 written on a cartolina), manila paper (quiz number 2)

III. Procedure:
A. Activities
1. Drill/Review
The students will recall their previous lesson using flash cards.

Activity 1
Direction: Identify what parts or terms related to circle is illustrated.
Examples:
2. Motivation
The students will have a think-paired–shared activity. They will be given 2
figures to analyse for 2 minutes and 3 minutes to discuss to each other their
observations about the figures.

Activity 2
Direction: Analyse and compare the following figures.

B. Analysis
After the activity, random students will be called to answer the following
questions.
1. What can you say about the figures?
2. When can we say if the circles are congruent?
3. When can we say if the arcs of a circle or congruent circles are congruent?
4. When can we say if the angles of a circle or congruent circles are congruent?
5. When can we say if the chords of a circle or congruent circles are congruent?

C. Abstract
The teacher will discuss further the theorems on central angles, arcs and
chords and will give some examples on how to prove the theorems.
Examples of figures to prove:

D. Application
The students will be given an examples of figures to try to prove on the
seats.

Activity 3
Direction: Measure the following using a protractor and a ruler.

Given: M= N
OP = QR

Prove: OP = QR

IV. Evaluating Learning

Quiz #3
Show that OP = QR
Given: M= N
OP = QR

Show that HK = SG
Given: X=Y
HK = SG

V. Agreement
The students will in advance about Arc Addition Postulate, Sector and Segment
of a Circle, and Arc Length, on pages 147-149. They will answer the following:
1. What is the measure of an arc formed by two adjacent arcs?
2. What is a sector of a circle?
3. What is a segment of a circle?
