PSPICE - Experiment 5

The document describes performing transient analysis on a circuit using Pspice software. It provides details on the theory of transient analysis, the circuit diagram, procedure to set up and run the transient analysis simulation, and presents the observed results with voltage plots over time across the circuit components.

EXPERIMENT 5

AIM: TO PERFORM TRANSIENT ANALYSIS ON THE GIVEN CIRCUIT.

APPARATUS: A computer/laptop with pspice software installed in it.

THEORY: Pspice is a general purpose proprietary software tool suite

used primarily used for electronic design automation (EDA). The
software is used mainly by electronic design engineers and electronic
technicians to create electronic schematics and electronic prints for
manufacturing printed circuit boards. The command can be seen in the
output.
Transient Analysis: - A transient response or natural response is the
response of a system to a change from equilibrium on a steady state.
The transient response is not necessarily tried to “on/off” event but to
any event that effects the equilibrium of the system. The impulse
response and step response are transient responses to a specific input
(an impulse and a step, respectively).
A transient analysis is one that ask you to find voltage (or current) vs.
time. It also includes some instant event: a switch opens or closes, the
power supply turns on, a part is suddenly pulled out the circuit, a fuse
blows. Your answer can either be a formula for v(t) or i(t) or it might be
a graph of v or I on the vertical axis and time on the horizontal axis.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:
PROCEDURE:
1) Connect the circuit component as shown in the circuit diagram.
2) Set V1=0, V2=1, TD=0, TR=1n, PER=1ms.
3) Put Voltage marker across resistor, capacitor and inductor.
4) Go to Pspice menu and select “New Simulation Profile”.
5) In the resulting dialog box give it a name.
6) In the resulting “Simulation settings” dialog box, select the
“Analysis” tab and under “Analysis type” select “Time domain”.
7) Set Run to time to 200ms.
8) Then hit play.
OBSERVATION AND RESULT:

The voltage V is pulsating from 0V to 1V.

GREEN LINE : VOLTAGE ACROSS RESISTOR

RED LINE : VOLTAGE ACROSS INDUCTOR
BLUE LINE : VOLTAGE ACROSS CAPACITOR
PRECACUTIONS:-
1) Handle the system with care.
2) Follow each step carefully.
3) Save the file before closing.
4) Enter the values carefully.
5) Select the analysis type carefully.
