1. Which developments in the information age brought significant changes in the way that you live
your life today?
 For me The era of information has given me a multitude of vital things in everyday lives
that i need. One of these is the telecommunication devices that have fundamentally
changed the way I interact with other people, such as smartphones and cellphones.
Social media also poses certain risks especially in the dissemination of false information
as a student, To make sure that I will not propagate inaccurate and unreliable
information through social media, I should always make sure that what I am posting or
sharing are facts. A confirmation from further research should be done. We should not
settle from what we see in the social media alone but we should check if such is true
and one good way to do that is to read newspapers and articles from reliable sources

2. How did the transmission of information evolve from the ancient times up to the present?
 Ancient people main mode of transmission of information is through oral transfer. They
transfer their tradition and cultural information through singing of songs. They also
learn to write through various writing system such as hieroglyphics and cuneiform. In
this age, people invented personal computers, mobile devices, internet etc. Through
internet, communication and transfer of information became faster. Social networking
sites became an integral part of people's lives and it is also through this that we can
share and be fed with information in real time.

3. Social media is a technology which facilitates the sharing of information, ideas and other
content in different parts of the globe. If social media was deactivated for a month in the
country, what could possibly happen?
 Social media are interactive technologies that allow the commencement or
sharing/exchange of information, ideas, career interests, and new forms of trip out via
virtual communities and networks. That’s why if social media was deactivated for a
month in the country, We would be back to the old century when people were NOT
connected to each other which is really isn't a bad idea. because to preserve their
unique identity or group. Social media just connects everyone and influences the same
thought, same political ideas, the same looks, and gives strangers access to your life.

1. What role does the environment play in addressing the needs of a society?

 The role of the environment in our society is to fulfill our needs like oxygen ,food ,water
that comes from the environment

1. How can people maintain the rich biodiversity in nature?

 Participate in biodiversity conversion program through increasing our knowledge of

environmental issue to grow our awareness of the impact of biodiversity loss that’s why
we have to strict our policies and action that preserve our ecosystem.

1. In your own words, how is an organism’s genome manipulated?

 I think  Genetic engineering involves the direct manipulation of one or more genes. like
DNA in many layers so that drugs, bacteria and virus can change your DNA. Sometimes
radiation, halogen chemicals or virus can break DNA and of its done very many times
then cell checkers that destroy cells with errors get confused and cancers result.
1. What are the pros and cons of genetically modifying crops?

1. Will you eat GMOs? Why or why not?

Write a short essay of whether you are agreeing of disagreeing in addressing economic concerns over
moral issues on genetically modified food or food products.

1. What are the examples of nanostructures?

 There are many example of nanostructure such as hydrophobic leaves, iridescent

butterfly wings, and the gecko’s foot. Through biomimicry, scientists and engineers are
creating new products using these nano-inspired features

1. What tools can manipulate nanostructures?

 The tools that can manipulate nanostructure are micro-fabricated grippers with electro
static actuation, these are used for accurate positioning of nanoparticles, and
environmental
electron beam deposition, which are used for manufacturing nanostructures of diverse
materials in ascanning electron microscope

1. How can nanotechnology address problems in the environment?

 Nanotechnology is being used to improve the environment and address its issued By
using nanotechnology we can address major environmental issues by producing
nanomaterials that can upgrade products to be environmental friendly. It also helps in
producing materials that are much more durable which results in prolonging the useful
life of a product. This helps in lessening the amount of trash that are thrown.
Nanotechnology is also being used to get rid of organic chemicals that are polluting
ground water. Research have shown that nanoparticles from iron can be used to help
clean organic solvents from water. And nanotechnology can also be used in reducing the
pollution that are produced in manufacturing products. Scientists use silver nanoclusters
to reduce byproducts that contribute to pollution in the process used to manufacture
propylene oxide which is mainly used to produce plastics

4. How can nanotechnology be used in the prevention and treatment of illness

 Nanotechnology can be a major help in the medical field. By the use of this technologyd
octors can diagnose patients earlier because it can detect diseases in the molecular
level. And bynanosequencing the DNA doctors can know if a person has a genetic
tendency for a disease. Nanotechnology can also help cure the patients by delivering
drugs into the body with the use of nanoparticles, this helps in delivering the drugs
straight to the area where it is needed and it has a smaller chance of side effects.

Watch the video on YouTube titled “The Next Step in Nanotechnology (George Tulevski)” by the TED
Talks then answer the following questions.

1. Why is nanotechnology likened to creating a statue out of a pile of sand?

 Nanotechnology is liked creating a statue out of a pile of dust because it is based on

nature which uses chemistry to join small size molecules. Pile of dust is like pile of nano
particles from which we can pull out those particles which we need.
1. What science governs nanostructures? Why is it different?

 It is nanostructure science which governs nanostructure. It now forms a common thread

that runs through all physical and material sciences and is emerging in industrial
applications as nanotechnology. It is different because there is no book that can cope up
with how difficult the subject matter is. The increasing importance of nanostructured
material in our society today suggests that we need to further study in order to explain
such specific phenomenon.

1. Why is nanotechnology a difficult science?

 Nanotechnology is difficult kind of science because of its multidisciplinary field of

research and it stretches over fields like material science, mechanics, electronics,
biology and medicine. The mere fact that it is multidisciplinary and its wide spread of
knowledge makes it different from any other branch of science.

1. How does climate change affect biodiversity?

1. What are the ramifications of Global warming that are now being experienced around the
world? Give at least two and explain how global warming triggered it.

1. What is catastrophic climate destabilization? As a student, what can you do to prevent the earth
condition into reaching the second stage?

1.  How can global warming and climate destabilization be a fatal threat to our future?

economy today primarily relies on coal and crude oil as primary source of energy, but you already know
that these two sources are harmful to our environment. In your opinion, is it logical to suggest to cease
the use of these energy sources and favouring the present alternative energy sources? Why or why not?
Briefly explain your reason and cite example for each. (Brief Essay)
