The RECO SPS ISP200-R is a powerful small-format SPS that is

compatible with the SPS in the MTC200 control system. The enclosure is
in IP 20 rating. The unit can be used as a stand-alone SPS or, in
conjunction with an MTC-R unit, as a slave SPS. The RS-232/RS-485
programming interface permits several SPS controllers to be
interconnected in a network, or a programmer or PC to be connected. In
order to enable each ISP200-R unit to be addressed directly from the PC,
each SPS has a separate device number between 0 and 15 assigned.
Another free serial interface (RS-232/RS-422/RS485) is available for the

DOK-CONTRL-MTS-R0*.1**-PR01-EN-P
1-2 General RECO-SPS ISP200-R

connection of a printer, a write/read storage unit, or a visualization unit

(e.g. BTV04/05).
The ISP200-R unit is a part of the ISP 200 systems. Thus, it is installed in
the related module rack system that consists of one RMB02.2-02 unit and
one or more RMB02.2-04 units. The MTS-R01.1 unit occupies one
module location in the rack; the MTS-R02.1 unit occupies two locations.
The ISP200-R is able to drive the bus for as many as 16 other I/O
modules. A separate internal local bus is used for the communication with
the MTC-R controller that is a part of the system. This bus is implemented
using an adapter board.
As an option, the MTS-R01 and the MTS-R02 can be equipped with the
open INTERBUS or PROFIBUS-DP field bus interface. Remote I/O units
with up to 4096 inputs and 4096 outputs each can be connected via the
INTERBUS interface. In addition, the MTS-R02 unit can be equipped with
a serial interface module (2 x RS232 and 2 x RS422).

1.2 Installation Instructions

Installing the Racks

The RMB02.2-02 and RMB02.2-04 racks are latched onto a TS 35x27x15

DIN rail, and secured with a screw. If necessary, the racks can be
mounted directly on the mounting plate in the switchgear cabinet, using
the holes provided in the racks (see Figure 1-9: RMB02.2-04 rack).
One RMB02.2-02 and/or up to 4 RMB02.2-04 units can be installed side
by side. The RMB02.2-02 rack must always be installed to the left of an
RMB02.2-04 rack. Slot addressing requires the DIP switches on the bus
boards of the RMB02.2-04 racks to be configured (see Figure 1-5: Setting
the slot addresses). The RMB02.2-02 rack, in contrast, has no address
switch. This means, that bus couplers or I/O units may not be installed in
this rack because they cannot specifically be addressed due to the
missing slot address.

Installing the modules

Beginning with an MTS-R and in slot 1 (left-hand side), the modules are
plugged into the RMB02.2-04. Each module is secured with two retaining
screws. The I/O modules and/or the MTC-R units are installed, side by
side, to the right of the MTS-R unit in the slots 1 through 15. In order to be
able to install modules later, you may leave gaps between individual
modules.
In contrast to the installation in the RMB02.2-04 rack, the module
installation in the RMB02.2-02 rack must always begin at the right-hand
side. The following combinations are possible:

Slot 1 Slot 2
MTS-R01.1 MTC-R01.1
Gateway MTS-R01.1
empty MTS-R01.1
MTS-R02.1
Figure 1-4: RMB02.2-02 installation variants

Note: Before commissioning is started, the retaining screws of the

racks must be tightened in order to prevent the connectors
between the racks from getting loose due to lateral
movements. (Figure 1-9: RMB02.2-04 rack shows the location
of the screws). In addition, the modules must be screwed to
the rack.
Never insert or disconnect a connector or module while power
is applied to the unit.

Grounding

Grounding the controller and screening the electronics require a

grounding cable of at least 6mm² to be laid from the controller's grounding
stud to the central grounding point of the machine.

1.3 Slot Addresses of the Racks

A DIP switch on the rack’s bus board enables the 4 RMB02.2-04 racks
that are possible in a chain to be addressed specifically. Depending on
the module type (slot 00-03, see Figure below), this DIP switch must be
set to the corresponding base rack number. Each slot may only be
selected once.

1.6 Connecting Supply Voltage and Watchdog

Faultless operation of the ISP200-R unit requires the supply voltage to
fulfill the following criteria:
• The supply voltage must never drop below +18VDV. This would
activate the POWER-FAIL signal, and stop the SPS operating
program.

Note: The power supply unit of the ISP200-R is a switching power

supply with an inrush current as high as 20 A. Thus, during
operation you should never connect another ISP200-R unit to
the same supply voltage. The high inrush current may cause
the supply voltage to break down, and activate the POWER-
FAIL signal.

1.7 Rechargeable Battery

User-specific SPS data can be lost if an MTS-R unit module is not used
or stored for more than 6 months.
Affected data This affects the following data:
• SPS user program
• Retentive data

Recharging the rechargeable The rechargeable battery is recharged when an MTS-R unit is
battery commissioned. A completely discharged battery requires the following
charging times:
Charging time: 1h -> approximately 100 h backup time
Charging time: 50 h -> approximately 5000 h backup time (full
battery)

Under normal operating conditions, the service life of the rechargeable

battery is between 7 and 10 years. Continuous charging of the

DOK-CONTRL-MTS-R0*.1**-PR01-EN-P
1-10 General RECO-SPS ISP200-R

rechargeable battery does not have a detrimental effect on the service life
(continuous operation of the controller).

1.8 Setting the Parameters of the PROG Interface

A DIP switch at the upper side inside the unit (see Figure 1-12: DIP switch
for the parameter value assignments of the PROG) is used for setting the
parameter values of the PROG interface of the MTS-R unit. Using a
pointed tool (small screwdriver), this DIP switch can be reached even if
the housing is closed.
If the setting proves difficult, the housing can be opened completely. It
consists of two half-shells that can easily be disassembled after the two
screws at the rear of the unit have been removed. The arresting devices
can be loosened manually or with a screwdriver.

1.9 Setting the Parameters of the COM Interface

In contrast to the parameters of the PROG interface, the parameter
values of the COM interface cannot be assigned via the hardware. These
parameter values are assigned via the COM data type in conjunction with
the OPEN_COM or CLOSE_COM function blocks. This is done via the
SPS user program. Please refer to the SPS Programming Instructions for
details.

3.1 Brief Description

The MTS-R02.1 is a powerful small-format SPS in IP 20 rating. It
occupies 2 slots in the RMB02.2 rack. It can be used either as a stand-
alone SPS with the corresponding I/O or as a combined CNC-SPS
system together with an MTC-R unit. The optional slots U1-U3 enable
open field bus interfaces (such as INTERBUS or Profibus-DP) or
additional serial interfaces to be installed.

Figure 5-27: LK DPM01 and DPS01

The DPM01 (Master) and DPS01 (Slave) boards are intelligent

PROFIBUS-DP interfaces in the PC104 format. They are used for
handling communication protocols between the SPS and remote I/O units.
The integrated microprocessor enables the full data transfer to be
performed automatically, thus relieving the SPS from time-critical tasks.
An 8-kB dual-port memory (DPM) is used for exchanging the data
between the SPS and a DPM01 or DPS01 board. This is a memory that

DOK-CONTRL-MTS-R0*.1**-PR01-EN-P
5-2 Profibus DP Interfaces RECO-SPS ISP200-R

can be accessed both by the SPS and by the microprocessor on a

DPM01 or DPS01 board.
The PROFIBUS-DP master interface LK DPM01 permits up to 32
PROFIBUS-DP device to be connected within a bus segment. If several
bus segments are interconnected via a repeater, up to 125 slaves can be
served in a maximum configuration. Each repeater reduces the maximum
number of slaves within a segment. Being a passive device, the receiver
does not have a device address assigned.
The DP slave can be provided with a maximum of 368 bytes I/O in the
process image. A maximum of 244 Bytes thereof may be I or O. Each DP
master possesses a maximum of 512 Bytes I/O in the process image.
Depending on the selected baud rate, a maximum distance of 1200 m is
possible between the Profibus-DP devices. At a baud rate of 1.5 Mbits/s,
the distance is reduced to 200 m, and at 12 Mbits/s to 100 m.

Note: To ensure proper functioning of the PROFIBUS interface, only

cables are allowed that comply with the PROFIBUS
specification RS485 (cable type A).

5.2 Setting the I/O Addresses

The bus address is selected via the jumpers of the J2 jumper array. The
address line is shown next to each plug-in jumper.
Depending on the expansion slot, the addresses must be set as follows
(X = jumper inserted):

Slot Address A19 A18 A17 A16 A15 A14 A13

5.3 Status and Diagnosis Indicators

When a DPM01 or DPS01 board is switched on, it first executes a self-

test. The two LEDs ERR and STA extinguish after the initialization phase
(2 to 3 seconds). The yellow RDY LED lights up after the self-test has
been passed. If a malfunction has been detected, the RDY LED starts
blinking and program execution is aborted. The other meanings of the
indicators are shown in the following overview:

7 Networking

7.1 Network Connections via PROG and COM Interfaces

The PROG interface of the ISP200-R unit can be used as a point-to-point
connection (RS232) and as a bus (RS485). The RS485 interface permits
a maximum of 16 controllers to be interconnected in a network structure.
This is done by assigning a device number (DEVICE-NO) between 0 and
15. Using this number, the controllers can be addressed directly from a
programmer or a PC. The INS0619 connector is available for establishing
bus operation. The diagram below shows the pin assignments of this
connector (Figure 7-36: RS485 connection with INS0619 connector).
The COM interface can only be used as a point-to-point connection
(RS422/RS485). Another connector is available for establishing an RS422
connection (Figure 7-37: RS422 connection with INS0645 connector).
RS485 operation via the COM interface using the BTV04/05 or BTC06
unit is only possible in conjunction with the „BTXX“ function block.
In RS422 and RS485 operation, a distance of max. 400 m is possible
between the first and the last device.
When several controllers are interconnected in a network structure via
RS485 interfaces, the bus must properly be terminated at the first and the
last physical device on the bus. This is done using the switches on the
INS0619 connectors.
Switch position 1 = bus is terminated.
