The proposed dance studio project involves constructing a dance room facility with equipment like sound system, wood tiles, mirrors, air conditioning, restrooms and locker rooms to serve as a training ground for dance sports athletes and socio-cultural performers at MSU-General Santos City.

II. Rationale

Dance has always been part of human culture, rituals, and celebrations. In the present, dancing is more about
recreation, self-expression and can also be done as a competition. Through dancing as well we help improved mental
functioning, increased confidence and self-esteem and better social skills.

We are all aware of the personal benefits of dance, but it's equally important to consider how it benefits the
persons. It's a wonderful art form that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and mental and physical well-being.
Individually, dancing can aid in the development of these qualities, but it can also spread to a community. If dance
could develop happy and healthy students, then it has the potential to foster a happy and healthy society.

The dancing studio is a place where we can go to get away from the stresses of everyday life. Work, school,
and family concerns can all be extremely stressful, so going to a studio for a couple of hours during the week might
help us forget about them. Because the main goal of the studio is to have fun and enjoy dancing, studios welcome
all types of people to come and dance. The majority of life's stresses are checked at the door. The beneficial
influence may also aid in improving the emotional and mental health of those individuals.

Dance is also a great way for students to use their time and develop skills when they are available.   It is one
of the best after-school activities for students to get into and can keep them from destructive behaviors.   Not only
will they be keeping active, but they will also be exploring their creative sides, too !

As Mindanao State University- General Santos City aims to be a globally competitive university, the Department of
Physical Education is aiming to provide space for the students where they can be furnished with better guidance and
learning. The proposed Dance Studio room is one way to realize all these endeavors. The Department of Physical
Education shall initiate this project. The said department come up with the aforementioned project as we continue
promoting excellence as one of the university’s core values.
