EMBARKATION LADDERS

Embarkation ladders used for embarkation and disembarkation of people into/out of lifeboats and also
at carrying out different outboards works: painting sides, cleaning anchors, scuppers, inspecting weld seams
etc.
Embarkation ladders and knotted lifelines satisfy the requirements of International Convention SOLAS (Safety
of Life at Sea) 74/88 and IMO Standards.

• Embarkation ladders length: any length by order from vessel.

• Made of hardwood, free from knots or other irregularities, smoothly machinedand free from sharp edges
and splinters, or of suitable material of equivalent properties.
• Provided with an efficient nonslip surface either by longitudinal grooving or by the application of an
approved nonslip coating;
• The step does not less than 480 mm long, 115 mm wide and 25 mm in depth, excluding any nonslip
surface or coating; and
• They are equally spaced not less than 300 mm or more than 380 mm apart and secured in such a
manner that they will remain horizontal.

PILOT LADDER

Pilot Ladders used for safety embarkation and disembarkation of pilots into/out of lifeboats.
A pilot ladder shall be certified by the manufacturer as complying with SOLAS regulation or with an
international standard acceptable to the Organization . Ladders shall be inspected in accordance with
SOLAS regulations I/6, 7 and 8.

• Length: 3, 4, 6, 9, 12 meters and any length by order by vessel.

• If made of hardwood, they should be made in one piece and free of knots
• If made of material other than hardwood, they should be of equivalent strength, stiffness and durability
to the satisfaction of the administration (i.e. Flag State of ship)
• They should have an efficient non-slip surface
• They should be not less than 400mm between the side ropes, 115mm wide and 25mm in depth, excluding
any non-slip device or grooving
• They should be equally spaced not less than 300mm or more than 380mm apart
• They should be secured in such a manner that each will remain horizontal
