Greta Thunberg is a well-known Swedish environmental activist because of her

environmental speech that she delivered on public last 2019 at United Nations Climate Action in
New York City. She condemn the public leaders, officials and world leaders about destroying the
youth’s future because of too much abusive tendency to the natural resources and ecosystem for
the sake of profit, competition and globalization. She even mentioned about the disgusting
hypocrisy of the world leaders about giving alternative solutions to resolve the rapid growth of
environmental crisis yet they are the one who caused it. Further, her fearless speech was a great
opportunity for us to love our mother nature and to protect it because she also drop some details
about the possible things that will happen in the future if we ignore this crisis. She also added
that in the next years our future generation will going to see the massive extinction of natural
resources and it will affect the human kind. Therefore, the speaker wants to imply the importance
of ecology and androcentrism is disgusting because it will also affect us in the future.
In another hand, her concern for the environment is actually a great deal and we cannot
deny it because of the existing problem for illegal logging, emissions and different kinds of
pollution because of the ecological abuses. Moreover, this is true according to the last statistics
of World Health Organization (WHO) almost seven million people around the world died
because of complications brought by air pollution. Further, the global temperature is also
increasing according to the said speech and we cannot deny it. The world today is experiencing
0.90°C (1.62°F).
On the other side of the coin, I would like to highlight the best psychological approach to this
text especially for the presence of psychoanalytic approach. The narrator would like to bring out
the destructive desire and motivations of her audiences especially for the world leaders in her
statement “How dare you pretend that this can be solved with just 'business as usual' and some
technical solutions?  “ she said to her audiences. This is a great tactic because she will going to
provoke the unusual and hidden desires of her audiences under the denial stage. The narrator also
used an aggressive drive and tone to her speech which is extremely part of Freud’s theory. She
even included her worries and anxieties about the future of the youth if the ecological system still
on the phase of destruction by expressing her concerns and disappointment to the world leaders.
Moreover, she also used a team of present to the future thematic content in order to provide
examples and to deliver her speech wisely. It is actually a good strategy to convince the audience
on provoking their present ideas and issues in order to get their attention.
In the end, I do believe that the author totally used a psychoanalytic approach by showing
aggression and argumentative manner during her speech. She also used a negative approach to
showcase her anxieties and worries by the usage of aggressive motivations in order to complete
this one .
