ICT601 Business Analytics

Semester 2,2018
Assignment 1
Student Name:
Student Number:

TASK 01:
1)
 According to the question we need to find out the loss in Australian state or territory that
in 2014:
 First select the Country and add it in filters also add State columns as per the question
provided to know the loss
 Now select year 2014 and add ship date in filters and insert profit in rows and find the
loss.

2)

3) The bar graph tells about profit raised by Australian state or territory in 2014. We can
observe that Australian capital territory has profit less than 0k while other states or territories
are having more than 0k. This represents Australian capital territory faced loss of 3,090k in
2014.

4) I haven’t taken any other data

B)Negative profits occurs when the cost exceeds the revenue generated from the sale of the
products .there are lot of reasons why Australian capital territory might got negative profits in
2014. Some of them are
 Poor marketing for the products could lead to get the negative properties

 Poor pricing of the products could lead to get the negative properties

 Labour cost increases can lead to a higher than expected cost of goods sold.

As per my view these might be the cases where Australian capital territory might got
negative profits in 2014.

TASK 02:
1)
 Now in task we must add Country in filters and select country Australia and press
apply then click ok as per Australian states and territories
 In next step select world map from show me then it automatically generates latitude
and longitude of the Australia
 As per the task 2 we must find the highest sales from year 2011-2014.
 To know which state, have highest sales, we have to add State in colors and Sales in
size.
2)
3) The World map explains about Sales of each Australian state or territory over the period
2011-2014 in which each dots shows State or Territory as the dots represents the no of Sales
and as size of the dots increases Sales also increases. From map , we can observe dots with
dot shows the state New south Wales big in size compared to all the other states .from this we
get to know New South Wales has highest profit in between 2011-2014

4) I didn’t take any other data

B) there are several reasons New south Wales got higher sales. but some of them are
 It has effective marketing, referrals, strong sales kills

 In New south wales they are producing the quality of products.

 They might reduced the price of the product which leads to increase the higher sales.

 They might introduce more winning prizes on the products and also give more offers
and discounts.
As per my assumption these might be the cases where New south Wales got higher
sales in between 2011 to 2014

TASK 03:
1)
 In task 3 we are going to find out the highest sales in dollars with Category
 Insert Category in Columns, Sales in Rows.
 Now click on show me and take Bar graph to find the product categories highest sales.

2)

3) The bar graph shows number of sales in Product categories. the size of the bar indicates the
No of Sales. Hence, the taller bar indicates the highest sales .By this , we can clearly see that
the technology category has highest sales from other categories.

4) I haven’t taken any other data

b)The demand for the product(Technology) will influence the sales value of the product. the
sales of the product increases means more demand is there in the market. If the sales value of
product increase then we can increase the more production value and also increase the price
of the product then automatically increase the profits.

1) The task is to find relationship between sales and profit of the technology.
 Now select categories then drag and drop in filters and find the relation between sales and
profit.
 select Sales in Columns, Profit in Rows.
 Take bar graph from the show me to find solution.

2)

3) the screen short explains about relation between the sale and profit of product category
technology and line shows how sales are affecting the profit. By observing the line, we can
know sales increases profit also increases.

4) I haven’t taken any other data

C)
