Damolo - Learning Activity
Activity 1:
Mr. Pedro, owner of department store, wants to convert from manual to computerized system
since his store is getting bigger due to the increase of demand as well as his potential customers.
He thinks by the use of computerized system. It is way better than before where he only used the
manual system.
Required:
What major differences would you expect to find in a client’s organization structure and
transaction processing when the client converts from a manual to a computerized system? What
would be the possible result or outcome of it?
*In terms of organizational structure, converting from manual to computerized system will
initially make it unstable. In terms of transaction processing, converting will initially make it
slower but will be faster in the long run. The possible outcome will depend on the adaptability of
the organization.
The organizational structure will initially be unstable due to employees' fear of redundancy due
to the computerized system. The computerized system will enable the employees to have a more
specialized function. In terms of the processing, it will be initially slower in the computerized
system when compared to manual system because there is a learning curve. Once the
organization has sufficient experience and competence in using the system, it will be
undoubtedly be more efficient and faster when using the computerized system.
The outcome will depend on the adaptability of the organization because computerized systems
enable organizations to be more efficient thus being responsive to customers. This will make
acquiring more customers easily and also retaining the current customers.
Activity 2
The rapid advancement of computer technology might impair a firm's ability to detect errors and
fraud unless sufficient controls are applied. As a result, one of the most important roles of the
management team in companies that use computers is to secure and control information service
activities.
Information system controls are planned throughout the design stage of a system to assure data
reliability. A well-designed system can avoid data change or destruction, both intentionally and
unintentionally. Input controls, processing controls, and output controls are the three types of
data controls.
Required:
For each of the three data control categories listed, provide two specific controls and explain how
each control contributes to ensuring the reliability of data. Use the following format for your
answer.
Control Category Specific Control Contribution to Data
Reliability
Implement the programmer This control can ensure the
that can examine the data are not input twice
duplicate data
Input Control Implement the validation This control could help to
program to control the identify the error or detect
missing data when someone are intentional
delete the data
Produce a hard copy This procedure could provide
transaction listing of all an audit trail and to determine
successful transactions and which transactions have been

could ensure the accuracy of
Processing Control data and make sure they have
been preserved
Create errors listing and Make sure appropriate user to
correct the errors regularly. support error correction and
Segregate the duties of error resubmission. And ensure the
detection, correction and integrity of data
submission
Implement the control on the Eliminate the criminals have
waste the access to the waste to
collect the information
Output Control Printed the names and Minimize the risks of lost,
addresses of the users on the stolen or miss distributed the
report and control the process reports to the users
