Message of the President /School Director/Consultant
The School’s Vision- Mission to create through education a dynamic, progressive,
productive and humane society of Filipinos, deeply committed to the ideals of love of God and
country and are united, peace loving and enjoying a desired quality of life, relies upon excellent
and highly trained faculty members in teaching and research. The Faculty Development Plan
2019-2022 aims precisely to develop this kind of faculty. It is an integral part of the key
strategies to realize our Vision- Mission. The program include support for participation in
community physical exercises and religious activities.
I strongly encourage our faculty members to avail of the programs and be part of
dynamic academic community that nurtures excellence in delivering Roseans Education.
This Faculty Development Program supersedes all other documents on faculty
development.

enlightened, God-loving, self-reliant, productive, locally and globally competitive members of the

Aligned with its Vision-Mission as a leading learned centered school, The Saint Rose
Academy Faculty Development Program provides appropriate and relevant educational
experiences to Saint Rose Academy Faculty members who are at the forefront of teaching,
research and community engagement in their specific disciplines. Saint Rose Academy is
committed to develop, nourish and support a faculty who are academic front runners- a breast
with cutting edge development and innovation is their fields of specialization and pursue holistic
growth as persons and learner. While the Faculty Development Program has the faculty
member’s integral growth as its immediate end, ultimately it is the
students who will benefit from the presence of highly trained faculty members whose pursuit for
excellence is at the heart of the Program.

This Program is only one of Saint Rose Academy’s continuing efforts that seek to ensure


the vitality, relevance and effectiveness of its educational mission. The Program aims to develop
and sustain quality faculty committed to lifelong personal and professional improvement and
service.

The SRA'S Faculty Development Program, provides a variety of training opportunities


that are prevised on the following:
1. Training develops and empowers the individual.
2. Training is a learning (not only a teaching) mode.
3. Training focuses on the needs of faculty.
4. Training, both formal and on the job, is continuous.
5. Training is an investment in human capital that integrates appropriate incentives individuals,
perceive beneficial thus motivates them.
6. Training benefits the school as a whole.

The SRA Faculty Development Program is an important part of the Faculty Manual. Due to


the changing needs of Faculty members and to cope with the trends and demands of
education in general and faculty development in particular, the program shall be reviewed every
three years.

FRAMEWORK:
The SRA Faculty Development Program is aligned with the Philippine Professional
Standard for Teachers.
The Philippine Professional Standard for Teachers (PPST) plays a significant role in the
teaching learning process. It captures the teacher’s quality requirements in the K-12 programs.
It gives focus on the skills and strategies that facilitate the teaching and learning process. It
incorporates the effective and appropriate use of information and communication technology for
both teachers and students. It gives educators knowledge that for them to be considered quality
teachers, they should know what to teach and how to teach the lessons to the students.

PPST has seven domains, namely;


- Content Knowledge and Pedagogy
- Learning Environment
- Diversity of Learners
- Curriculum and Planning
- Assessment and Reporting
- Community Linkages and Professional Engagement
- Personal Growth and professional Development

It also has four career stages, such as


- Beginning
- Proficient
- Highly Proficient
- Distinguished

There are 37 indicators in each career stage show a developmental progression from
beginning to distinguished practice.
It articulates what constitutes teacher quality in the k-12 reform through well-defined
domains, strands, and indicators that provides measures of professional learning, competent
practice, and effective engagement. This set of standards provides information of what teachers
should know, be able to do, and value to achieve competent, improved student learning
outcomes and eventually quality education. It serves as a basis of professional accountability
that can help teacher’s reflection and assess their practice as they aspire for personal growth
and professional development PPST helps to have quality and effective teachers here in the
Philippines, when it comes to teaching. It allow them to recognize the importance of having a
critical understanding of the application of theories and principles of teaching and learning.
Teachers become responsive to learners diversity. They come to understand that learners
are different from each other. They differ in their interest, learning styles. They need to
incorporate teaching practices that are differentiated to be able to meet the needs of learners,
especially the disable learners. The teachers should apply a variety of assessment tools and
strategies in monitoring, evaluating, documenting and reporting learner’s needs progress and
achievement. It teaches, teachers to value personal growth and professional development. The
PPST aims to produces better teachers in our country by improving their qualifications skills and
by increasing their levels of knowledge, practice and professional engagement. It todays 21 st
century, there is a need for teachers to become digital literate they must know to operate and
utilize resources to make teaching and learning meaningful and engaging for learning for
learners.

The SRA Faculty Development Program was designed to assist individuals in the area of


human resource development. The Program aims to facilitate the school's goal of academic
excellence through the development of the be value increasingly in accordance with the broad
range of current and emerging needs of faculty , both for today and in the future furthermore,
the

SRA Faculty Development Program is governed on the principles that:


1. The individual’s personal competence is integral to the
school's overall human resources.
2. One way to achieve academic excellence is to integrate the desires of individuals in the
community growth and development aligned with the school's goals.
3. The school is a learning organization were expansion production and nurturance of
knowledge remain a fundamental priority.
4. In today's knowledge based society, training is imperative for faculty to be producers of
new knowledge that can be best attained with opportunities that expose them to global
perspectives, approaches and international collaborations.

Built on the abovementioned principles, SRA is committed to sustain a dynamic academic


community where members share collective aspirations that are mutually beneficial and the
Drive and need to learn together is primordial.

A. SUPPORT FOR LOCAL TRAINING, SEMINARS AND WORKSHOP

OBJECTIVES
1. To upgrade the knowledge and skills of faculty members in their fields of discipline on
line of work through participation in local trainings, seminars and workshop.
2. To provide opportunities for faculty member to network with experts and their peers in
the discipline.

Eligibility
Fulltime / Permanent faculty members

Benefits
a. Funding support by the school shall be provided only to those items for which no funding
from other sources is available.
b. The faculty members shall not be given any of the benefits that will be founded by the
organizers or sponsors of the training/ seminars / workshop.
c. A faculty member may avail of this incentive only once a year.
d. The seminar, workshop or training should be directly in line with the faculty member's
area of discipline or line of work and should clearly lead to the upgrading of his/ her
knowledge or skills.
e. The seminar, workshop or training should be sponsored, organized and conducted by a
reputable agency of the institution.
f. The duration of training, workshop or seminar should not exceed two weeks.
g. The faculty member shall submit a post training report / summary of activities within two
weeks after returning from training.
h. Faculty member should be able to echo their learning to their fellow faculty or workers at
the school when requested to do so by the President.
i. Liquidation, regulation or disbursement and oversight shall follow relevant to SRA
accounting procedure.

B. SUPPORT FOR PARTICIPATION IN COMMUNITY PHYSICAL EXERCISE ACTIVITIES
a. Faculty members are encouraged to join the Zumba dance exercises at the public auditorium
every Saturday.
b. Faculty members are encouraged to join walk for cause sponsored by religious organizations.
c. Teachers are also encouraged to join the physical exercises with the students during the flag
ceremony.

C. Support for Participation in School based / District Based Seminar / Workshop on


Personality Development
 The school holds seminars in the school
- Speakers are invited to speak on personality development
- Spiritual Leaders are also invited to conduct lecture for emotional and spiritual
development

D. Support for Faculty members' educational field trips/ tours to famous tourist


attractions at least once a year.

E. Support for attendance / participation in District / Division activities / celebrations


such as World Teachers Day.
