The story centered around a college student who meets an unusual person in Sili's public market,
Magayon's Indong Kagit. When he encountered the beggar after and before he went to school or go home, he
observed him based on his appearance and conduct as if he was living in his own universe. Eman, a student, was
very eager in learning more about Indong Kagit and wondered why he was in such a bad state today. His interest
lessens with time, but not until he attended a rally to remove a corrupt and abusive president at the state
university, where Indong Kagit also joined and united, and he became a tiny assistant, such as obeying commands
in exchange for food and clothes. Eman approached Indong Kagit and began to tell him about his life. The real
name of the beggar was Fredeswindo Manlagit. His nickname was Indong, and the prefix kagit meant "mad." He
claimed to have been a farmer on Sorsogon's vast countryside. Their family used to possess the land, but it was
taken from them by shrewd landlords. He had a wife named Cristina and a son named Marcial before his wife left
him for a wealthy landowner because she was blinded by the life of luxury. His son departed for his ideas and
returned without surviving the clash between his communist party and the troops.
Cristina, on the other hand, committed suicide by swallowing pesticide because she was ashamed to
return to her family after finding that the landowner had bored her. When Fredeswindo learned of his kid and
wife's deaths, he was saddened, and he descended into a dead existence because there was no reason to live until
the wind drove him to the city of Sili, where he is now. After the first semester of the school year, a powerful
typhoon strikes Bicol, wreaking havoc on everything in its path. Eman encountered Indong Kagit by chance and
asked him some questions with his dazzling eyes and distinct demeanor. He replied that he is defying the storm
and began recounting a narrative about how he used to fantasize of being a cop to exact vengeance on the
landowner who murdered his father or a lawyer and politician to become wealthy. Unfortunately, he ended up as a
beggar, accusing and confronting God himself. Eman comes across a bunch of folks in front of a fast-food
restaurant one day. He noticed Indong Kagit eating a bloody burger and chicken while laying down. While he
died cheerfully savoring the final food he was able to eat and claimed it was a blessing from God, he heard people
such as the crowd and the guard denouncing the beggar's actions.
Jumping up to the main point, Ang Baliw ng Bayan ng Sili showed a variety of conflicts that our
generation faces today. One is the inequity experienced by students, instructors, and other school personnel as a
result of their unjust College President, who abuses her power and only makes decisions that favor herself rather
than the institution as a whole. Their classmates banded together to fight for their rights. Another issue raised in
this chapter is the problems that the underprivileged face in our society. Indong Kagit has been through a lot since
he was a child, and he has been ignored and even labeled as insane. The article reveals his challenges and how he
deals with them on a daily basis.
