1) The compressor displacement volume or swept volume is calculated as π2DLS/4, where D is the bore of the cylinder and L is the stroke length of the piston. 2) The volume flow rate of air for a single acting compressor is π2DNLS/60 and for a double acting compressor is π2DNLS/60 * 2. 3) The minimum work input for a multistage compressor occurs when the pressure ratio between each stage is equal.
